Next up for the Chairboys is a short trip to Kingsmeadow to face the Wombles for the third time in their present form the first was a 4-1 win for the Chairboys in a first round FA Cup game just over 4 years ago and the last time will only be remembered for events one hour after the final whistle. We go into the game with Matt McClure and Marvin McCoy returning to the squad from injury. I will not be making the trip having not recovered from my knee injury I got last weekend but I fully expect another 3 points to help our continued rise up the table. http://www.wycombe.vitalfootball.co.uk/article.asp?a=305149
Wimbledon have picked up a couple of wins recently both away and at home have only picked up 8 points.I wouldn't feel too bad with a point as long as Plymouth and Bristol Rovers both lose,a win means beer time again!
this is a winnable match, which is normally the ones we choke on!!!! lets hope jo kuffour takes his performance from last week into saturday and i definatly hope the team doesnt take 45 minutes to wake up again!!!
Hopefully a good game tomorrow with two teams who have hit a decent little bit of form. If we can keep the tempo we had in the second half last week then we should be too strong for them. But this is Wycombe, its never that simple. Its the first away trip I've been able to make this season, so an all day drinking session and 3 points is the plan for the day!
Looks like he did just need that first one! Its been a long time coming but good to see. 3 confident strikers now in Kuffour, Morgan and McClure. Can't even remember when I would have last been able to say that!
That could be an important goal from McClure with Aldershot,Barnet,Plymouth and Bristol Rovers all winning today.I said before the game a point wouldn't be too bad but the way other teams at the bottom have been playing recently we need 3 points against Dagenham next week to ease our relegation worries.
I will stick my neck out and boldly say we will not get relegated. 20 points from the last 10 games, a period throughout which we have had so many injuries and a brief period of suspensions. We are as many point from the play offs as we are from relegation. We now have confident strikers who are scoring goals. We have just grabbed 4 points from the last two games without even playing well. Looking at our "on paper" tough games coming up, we play Bradford away 3-4 days after their semi final at Villa, a potential ideal time, Gillingham away who are now looking vulnerable at home, having lost their last two at Priestfield and then Bradford at home quite soon after, hopefully either confidence shot from losing in the cup or distracted by the impending final! I firmly believe we will be in safe mid table!
I think after the first month of the season we'd all have been more than happy with that and i wonder where we would be in the league now had Waddock been sacked after getting us relegated? Yes we had an awful injury list but so have other teams like Oxford,Northampton and Bristol Rovers among others.I have a bottle of something in my fridge i've been saving for a special treat(bottle of wine) which will be opened only when it is definate we are staying up and i'll raise a glass to Gareth Ainsworth now he's won me over and fair play to him.i can't be right all the time!
Just got back from the game & it was a fair result. Today would have been an ideal day to have a centre forward who can play with his back to goal. We played well first & last twenty minutes but Wimbledon were best in the middle 40 minutes. Morgan was as infurating as ever made the first goal by winning a tackle on the halfway line, but at times in the second when things went against him did'nt look bothered. When you look at our side a lot of the players are good footballers but seemed to get muscled out of it when the ball was in the air.
