I'm not saying we should just loan when we can't buy. I'm not saying we should fill major gaps with loan players.

But sometimes I'd like to see some players coming in just to maybe boost the squad a little, and we'll give them a chance to prove themselves and maybe to sign them in the future.

I agree here. It's a cheap way to cover injuries.

I'm thinking it has to do with who're the players available for loan, would they add quality to the team, and the benefits vs the costs of getting that player.
The most obvious example is say, Ben Arfa's loan. We just got promoted, were still pretty ****e , can't rely on Routledge on the wing as a starter as he isn't a world beater. And he was quality, but the club didn't want him(Lyon?), so was available to us and we struck gold.

But then again, I'm thinking you might be right. We should look to the Barcas and Reals and loan some of their fringe players, why we're not doing this is a good question to ask .

Agree with this, especially if we are going to drag our heels about signing players. There are players out there, especially teams with stupidly big squads.

Just look at West Brom and Lukaku. All parties are going to benefit from it.

I made a similar comment on the Liverpool board the other day when they were talking about Coates. I thought a loan may be beneficial ro all parties. I don't think Coates is a world beater but from what I've seen I'd prefer him to Williamson and he's not getting games at Liverpool - just an example there are probably better player out there I guess.

I suspect the no resale value part is seen as an issue.

For me loan for us is pointless because either the do well and another club offers more money or they dont do well.

Most businessmen don't like dead money. Its like renting instead of buying your home.

As fans we can see the short term benefit of course. To Mike they are the work of satan himself.
