My guess is Fox. Not a centre-back I know, but Stephens doesn't appear to be anywhere near the first team, and both Seaborne & Martin are set to leave.
A draw would not be an awful result. I believe we will win this but a draw would not be the end of the world. All it would mean is that we'd have to get one more point than villa over the remaining games to finish above them.
Would've been about this time last year? Millwall away in the cup I think he started CB alongside Martin.
Oh interesting where are these 2 players going ? Has palace sent Martin back to Saints after his disastrous loan spell ?
Wouldn't have a clue Saints recalled him, and it was mutually agreed it was best he came back here and has been with the first team squad since. Seaborne is back as well, but can't see him staying long. It was just a prediction more than anything haha.
Oh I read recently you were related to Martin as you seem to know everything about him and his whereabouts. I know several fans were saying at the weekend they had heard he was on his way back after being criticised heavily by the palace fans & not even featuring on the bench until last weeks injury. I always try and follow the players to see how they are doing when they are out on loan and I feel really really sorry for poor old Aaron Martin. He is sent out on a seasons loan to a club to play him and all he has done is watch from the stands. It must really harm the players confidence when they are slated so badly from the palace fans. Then to be recalled must be embarrassing for the poor lad. Some loans like Hammond's and Sharp's are still going well according to the fans and that is what you would hope to gain as a player out on loan. I wonder what went wrong for Martin at Palace ?
adkins alluded to the fact that we will struggle to move fringe players on due to high wages as a result of successive promotions
Yes that probably makes sense. Plus if a player does go out on loan than the club will expect them to play and perform for the club. It puts more pressure on the loan player to perform. Look at Martin having to be recalled from a seasons loan only playing 4 league games where he would of been expected to start every game.
Sadly, yes. I like Ryan, but he should have made a choice a while ago, & theres only one reason why he didn't.
True, but when you look at the fixture list the games against the teams down there all need to be wins really. Then you just hope to take points off arsenal and stoke.
For me this is a must win. We need 9-10 wins to stay up. We have 4. Our remaining home games except QPR are against top half teams. How many of those can we expect to win? Our best option is to beat the near bottom teams away. We unfortunately did not get enough home wins against the bottom teams in the first half.
This won't make or braek our season but there is no reason why we can't geta positive result. They have some good attacking players but so do we!
I really don't know why everyone thinks this. No I'm not. I just know whats in the public domain already.
Here's some Aston Villa team news from BBC Sport's Pat Murphy: "Paul Lambert says Darren Bent's knee injury is not as bad as first feared after the Bradford match - but he won't be fit for tomorrow's match against Southampton. Nor will Marc Albrighton or Chris Herd (both foot injuries). "Shay Given is struggling with a hamstring strain but Brad Guzan will return. Ron Vlaar is back in training (calf) after missing the last six months with a calf injury but will miss out tomorrow. Richard Dunne expects to resume training next week after a groin operation and could be available at end of January."
