So Inter Milan have accepted an offer from Galatasaray, believed to be for £8 million, just half a million more than we paid for a certain Bebe, a player Fergie had never even seen play.

There doesn't seem to be much in the way of speculation linking us with him, but I personally think we'd be mad if we didn't at least make a move for him.

We missed out on paying a similar fee for him when he left Real Madrid. Had Inter wanted to play ball over a £30 million transfer in the summer of 2011 we'd have ripped their arms off.

It might look like we have good numbers and options in midfield, but both Giggs and Scholes aren't long term, or short term options considering their inconsistency and form, Ando can't put a string of games together without breaking down and Fletcher still used sparingly after his illness, it leaves Carrick, Cleverely and Kagawa as our only reliant and consistent midfielders.

Sneijder is apparently holding out for £200,000 per week at Inter. I personally just think he's had enough at Inter and wants out.

He's still only 28, and only a year ago was talked about in the same breath as Iniesta and Xavi. Linking him up with van Persie would be a double Dutch dream team!

    Carrick-Sneijder
    Valencia-Kagawa/Rooney-Young
    van Persie

    Get it done Fergie <ok>

    Personally, no.

We have plenty of attacking options and all these big name, big ego player like sneijder are likely to cause more problems than they solve.

    I also think he's overrated.

No he had his chance so **** him.

He's already on £200,000 per week at Inter and that's after tax. They gave him the choice of taking a wage cut and playing or simply not being allowed to play and he chose not to play - not that I blame him to be honest.

Supposedly him and RVP don't get along either which may be why SAF hasn't made a move for him ?

And only three defenders? Would have to be Sneijder next to Carrick, or rotated with Kagawa and Rooney. Not sure he's the right player for the job now we have Kagawa and Cleverley is doing so well - would rather focus on replacing Carrick with a more mobile player like Strootman or De Marcos.

Also, the fact Galatasaray are leading the chase for Sneijder says a lot about how far his star has fallen over the past two years.

    ****, fixed <doh>

now the cat is out of the bag and other clubs now know what inter are prepared to accept, i'd be shocked if there wasn't a lot more interest from some big clubs in the next few days.

well that's entirely inters fault. you can't agree to a contract and then refuse to play someone because they won't sign a new deal for less money. sneijder has done very little wrong for me, we constantly moan about how players don't honour contracts, well inter have made their very expensive bed, time to lay in it.

also, there's no way he's on £200,000 after tax. he pays 43-46% in italy.

They gave him that contract the year Inter won the treble nad prior to changes in tax laws. I think they why they are trying to force him to take a cut as his salary is massive.

It was reported last year that it was £200k after tax.

I don't blame him one bit either though.

I only ever heard rumours it was £200k after tax - most credible sources said £200k before and around £120k after. £200k net of tax would need to be around £350k gross, which would put him close to Eto as the highest paid player on the planet.

Either way, Inter are bang out of line for trying to force him to leave after a contract they signed. Tho' I suppose that's no different from Torres forcing a move out of Liverpool, or Gallas' alleged own goal threat to Chelsea.

No, two years ago then I would of said yes, but since then he's missed a huge amount of football because of injuries and he still demands very high wages, plus we have Cleverley looking a much more mature player and Anderson was showing some form before he picked up a knock and Kagawa has been added to the squad since the last time we were interested in him, I just don't think we need him now, he had his chance and priced himself out of the move.

For £8 million, the price of Bebe, we would be insane to not be interested.

Not sign him on the basis that Anderson might one day get fit and Kagawa might turn into the player he should? I think not. Even if those two do fullfill their promis Scholes and Giggs will be gone so we'll hardly have a surplus.

The ONLY thing that would put me off is that if the rumours are true and he does not get on with van Persie. It did Cole and Sheringham no harm but I see no reason at all to disturb RVP when he is playing out of his skin for us.

The wages are not insurmountable, he's got the choice of dropping his wages or not gettting to ever play for Manchester United. Ball is then in his court.

Nope. Decent player but has done **** all since 2010 and would want to play behind the striker and I wouldn't drop Rooney for him.

On the other hand, should we sign him with his massive wage demands on the basis that he might one day regain his best form or that he might manage to stay injury free or that he might be able to get along with RVP?

    For 8 million quid, yes.

I said not on current wages, I mentioned the alleged clash with RVP and the reason he's not in form is simply that they won't play him.

The more you think about it, he must surely be worth a punt at 8 million ? Even Bebe cost us 7.5m.

I know wages may be an issue but were showing interest in Lampard FFS - I doubt his wages will be low.

Sky sources were saying he had virtually signed yesterday Matth. They cover all angles so they can say we told you first.

They are about as reliable as twitter <ok>
