We cannot survive in this division without at least three signings this month.

A striker to replace/rotate with Cisse.

A CB as Saylor can't stay fit and Willo simply isn't good enough.

    A left-footed left back.

I can't see us signing a right-winger as Ben Arfa has been played there, Obertan and Marveaux can play either side as can Jonas.

If nobody comes in we're done for. <ok>

The old saying of 'You reap what you sow' couldn't be more pronounced just now.

I an ideal world we'll sign a centre half, a striker, a left winger and a left back (with a left foot). I'd settle for the centre half!

I think there is a very real chance of Debuchy being the last of our business. I hope I'm wrong because really as a minimum Ashley should be giving him a centre half and a striker. The centre half because Willo is not good enough and Colo/Saylor are injury prone, and the striker because if Cisse got a season ending injury in the 2nd week of February we'd be struggling for goals!

We've almost discussed our transfer situation to the death already.

Obviously I think we'll never see the optimum situation of getting 4 players in. Our best hope is to get 1 striker and 1 CB. We have said all along , even with Ba and Cisse, we STILL needed 1 striker, but it's going to be smokescreens again and we'll end up with just 1 striker. I shudder to think seeing Shola starting any game for us ever again, but it might happen. And at the rate Saylor and Colo are keeping themselves healthy, Willo is still going to get plenty of games again.

Our board is horrible, and it isn't helping the manager who's having a tough time himself.

As the days tick over with hardly a whisper of a transfer today, then it's looking more likely that we will get no one in. It doesn't surprise me though.

I think we'll have the Remy deal sewn up by the end of the week.

Agreed, MA is a twat at times, but you dont get to be a billionaire by ALWAYS beign a twat, I think he has big time fecked up again last summer by thinking he could start by ONLY building the 'B' team for the future (we all knew we needed 3 1st team quality players) and and is trying to correct it. Plus the 60 million loss IF we get relegated might have sharpened his thinking atm.

So Remy in plus a CB or cheap Perch type defensive Util player is on the cards this window for me.

That said it still wouldnt surprise me what ever the hell MA and his bunch actually do..but trying to remain..mildly optimistic

Not as optimistic my friend! It's likely the deal is going to drag on and on until we're all biting our fingernails and we'll end up with 1 striker(Remy) or they'll use the "we tried" excuse.

Three this window is a minimum, including Debuchy. What if Ba wasn't the problem and Cisse's a one-trick pony? It's not as if you can throw Shola or Gangsta in the mix and get goals.

As for CB - we'd be at least 10 points of more better off if Williamson had never been signed. I shudder to think - those OG's, the "assists", the thought of NOT having someone at a set piece who ALWAYS gives away a free kick, a reduction in the hoofball.....scratch that, we'd be in 4th now without him, I've never seen a bigger liability at CB in all my days. And as a Toon fan, that's quite an incredible statement.

Simply put, we MUST buy a CB and forward.

The Remy deal, if you can call it that, is starting to make me a tad anxious, there is too much press speculation now and it's starting to resemble the circus that the Debuchy first approach turned into.
It's difficult not to follow the press reports, most of which are works of pure fiction, with the foreign press seemingly as lazy and prone to exaggeration as our own.
I have a feeling that we need to start preparing ourselves for the old, well we tried, but, speech before to long.
Not hopeful of a striker/ forward or a CB to be honest.

Fortunately I played in all those positions when I was at school and even kept goal when the keeper got injured. I've been asked to turn up with my boots.

I think you could struggle to get past the fourth official with those hobnails. Anyway, unless you Dubbin the ball on the Friday night there's no chance of you playing centre forward.

There's often a saga when we are allegedly making an approach to sign a player, but not enough positive activity in my opinion, if not Remy then who, there'll be at least another week or so persuing another possibility, if the Remy speculation turns out to be just that.
It'll be nothing short of scandalous if we are left with just Cisse and Shola, where will be be if one of them become injured, back to the OP, it's anyone's guess if we'll get a new striker.

I think we will sign a forward - either a wing-forward style player or a central striker. Even if it's just a younger player to start out as back up we'll get someone in, I'd put my pet gerbil's life on it (if I had one).

Agree with most of this. Centre back has to be priority.

Have to say WP, I'm starting to disagree with your push for Santon on the right... He always looks out of position when he gets moved over to right back in games. I think his strengths lend themselves well to cutting inside when he takes people on.

So did l AB, don't have my boots anymore, but l have a nice pair of fluffy slippers, which judging by today's footwear, should work out just fine.
Do you have an agent ? or have you negotiated. A pay-per -play deal ? Loyalty bonus should kick in after the first 30 seconds and of course l trust you have brokered your cut of the transfer fee when the top 4 come calling.

I'm sure the fluffy slippers will distract the opposition so it could work out very well for you. Agent? Come on on now GlitF, how do you think I got my username?

If we don't sign a striker in the transfer window and anything happens to Cisse maybe we could use Barcelona's formation and have a false number 9. Maybe use Ben Arfa in that role. :emoticon-0112-wonde
