Good Morning !!! The YEP report that Leeds are repelling interest from Becchio. I've got a better idea. Slap a 10m price tag on him... Are we sure that Leeds are not just trying to draw attention away from the fact that we have not come close to signing anyone? Thoughts? With Kieron Dyer one of the premiership players available on a free transfer, could he be our first new first player of 2013? The injury prone veteran was signed by Warnock whilst at QPR, and we all know that Warnock loves to re-sign old players??? West Bromwich assistant head coach Kevin Keen says he expects Jerome Thomas to play a part at the Hawthorns in the coming months following his return to the club from on loan at Leeds United. Thomas's agent, Tony Finnigan confirmed yesterday that he has not heard from United regarding a renewed move for winger in the past seven days. Thoughts? We have tabled a bid of 750k for Forest forward Dexter Blackstock, and are waiting to hear news! Where would he fit into our plans? Would we rotate, or can we expect to see a striker depart?
Morning all - £750k for a player who will be out of contract in 6 months is terrible business, worse than terrible it is criminal. If we can sell Gradel because he has a year left for £900k (reportedly after exchange rate) this is way over the top for a striker that we don't really need. Far better putting that money towards a decent midfielder. If we get Blackstock we have a team that will have no midfield but a possible bench of Diouf, McCormack and Somma (not to mention Gray who has never played?) ???
Morning Elland, I am totally confused and disappointed with all thats gone on from the summer, and now the issues of players that may be on their way out and possibly replaced with sub-standard players....... whats happening to our great club, i for one do not have a clue?
Well the waiting game continues and as usual the club seem to be (Quietly) touting our better players in the media. Stupid selling Luciano, even though he's not everyone's cup of tea he's at least consistent - carthorse, slow, poor control, falls over ..... but scores goals. If they sell Byram it shows no foresight or ambition and just means more of the same under GFH as we got with Bates. We don't want Dyer or anyone else well over 30 like Clint Hill and can't understand why we're looking at Blackstock as he's no better than what we already have. However Forest are in the media today saying 2 players expected by the weekend? The other interesting thing for me, and I've mentioned this on here a few times, is Port Vale. Newly out of administration with a new owner. Team has been flying all season and are favorites to go up. Over the last week they've brought in 3 top players (For that league) to ensure promotion, but 2 have been strikers. Last night Lee Hughes went to Vale on a long contract and as we all know Hughes has been scoring for fun at Notts County for years, but now at Vale. So 2 new strikers could well mean that they are going to cash in on Tom Pope who has scored nearly 30-goals this season. he's this seasons Jordan Rhodes if you like, and I've a feeling that Warnock may be after him. I have no problem with siging players from lower leagues as its value for money and recently we've seen some very good players like Lambert, Hooper, Cox etc, etc make the grade. But as Pope has never scored loads of goals until this season, is he a big gamble, if we are actually chasing him. By the way I live next door to a Vale striker .... Blackburn now chasing Gus!! plenty more managerial changes on the cards, can Villa sack Lambert please so that we might replace Warnock
Only saw the highlights at the end of the game but he scored the first goal for Bradford. Did mention a few days ago that Twitter was a buzz with us and Hull trying to sign him but it got looked over. From what I understand he's youngish 22 and good might be a good deal with Gray going the other way which I read might happen a few days ago. I think Bradford tried to sign Gray in the summer anyway. With Somma back we don't really need Blackstock as we already have about 6 players (I Think) who can play as a forward and that's not counting Varney. All I can imagine is that we are looking to get rid of somebody and I wouldn't be surprised if it's McCormack or Somma had a feeling that Warnock is only playing Somma to put him in the Shop window so to speak. As for Dyer I personally would like to see younger players coming in to the squad. Dyer was good in his day under Robson when he was at Newcastle but he's injury prone it might be like when we signed Steve Stone and we end up not playing him all season.
Morning all. Impossible to have a discussion over who we should or should'nt sign to be honest. Without knowing if gfh have 10million or 10p in mind as a transfer fund. If we have little or no money, Dextock would be great, otherwise I would'nt bother. Also no point whatsoever buying anyone if Becchio or Byram have to go. I dont understand Becchio not being everyones cup of tea. 20 goals in half a season playing in a poor team, I think thats an outstanding return. People moan about maybe losing McCormack and he scores nothing
**** Dyer, **** Blackstock, **** Warnock if he thinks these are the signings we need to make. **** Haigh & Patel for not putting there hands in there pocket & **** Hull as I know your reading this A very happy morning to all <bucks is in the office today>
We got 1.75m for Gradel after exchange rate and after Leicester and the Football League took there cut. Have no idea where you got 900k from In fairness to McCormack, he scored for fun last season and hasn't had the chance to do that this season due to injury and not getting a run in the team. Not only that has a huge assist to game ratio and is probably the best player we have on the books, I have no idea how you can write that last sentence
Ah, Dyer. If there was the option of having the Dyer of 10 years ago, I'd sign him up in a heartbeat. Pace, power and creativity from midfield, oh how we miss it...
QPR had the chnace to get rid of Dyer last summer but they gave him a new contract . Now I presume they've given him a pay-off for the rest of the season .
Wonder if a 'pay as you play' contract would be worth it? And sorry, how could I forget - morning all!
unfortunately I don't think he's the same player he used to be anymore. Great shame tbh, he was quality at Newcastle under Robson.
Morning all. A very interesting debate. I don't expect big shift from the usual "has been" and "never weres" that Colin seems to sign habitually. Whether that be all his budget allows or not. Saying that he didn't need to loan Kenny, there seemed to be ready funds for that. Interesting post from Doc about Lambert. Starting him as manager would be great payback. "Sort out this mess Paul, after all you made it when you signed our whole midfield at Narrrrrich"
Colin has just said on the OS that he expects a signing before Barnsley but won't say who it is (obviously) http://www.leedsunited.com/news/20130109/boss-poised-to-clinch-signing_2247585_3035476?
Howya Bucks. We shouldn't have to sell any of our top players, if we have any ambition that is. I know it's early days with the new owners, but surely they've some money in the kitty. It pees me off to see clubs like ull signing decent players like brady(scum) and meyler and we can't seem to attract anyone. FFS I'm not looking to sign Messi.
