Paul Lambert Could he be sacked?? Never saw him ever looking so uncomfortable in the Norwich dug out, as he does now!!
wow. Before anything gets said I just want to say fair play to Bradford, they played magnificently! The media will be talking about how bad Villa are and won't give them any credit (sound familiar?)
Great game, apparently Bradford could have had a 4th at the end too! Would love to see them at Wembley, it'd be thoroughly deserved, and what a financial boost to a league 2 team, apparently they've already made £1m from the semi's.
The only thing more amusing than seeing Villa get a hiding from Bradford is listening to Robbie Savage slowly turn into a Welsh version of Lawro, his post match comments have included: "I still make Villa slight favourites though because they have the quality and Bradford could be nervous." Really? They've done a good job of hiding this quality this season, as for nerves, Bradford have nothing to lose while this could, and probably would, destroy the confidence of the young players in the Villa side and wreck what ever is left of their season. "Can you say Villa have been embarrassed tonight? I'm not sure you can given that Bradford have played so well." Regardless of how well Bradford played, this is embarrassing for Villa. They've just been well beaten by a side 8th in League Two, a full 60 places below them in the league structure.
Bradford and Matt Duke in particular play out of their skin, but villa should have had the talent to ease past them. The defensive issues in that villa team are getting really serious. If a league 2 team can get round the defenders so easily then you have very serious issues.
Totally agree Bradford were great. Totally deserved. Forgot how big Valley Parade is!! 20,000 in league 2. And sorry, but Villa deserve a hammering from the media, Bradford were controlling both flanks all game long, and Lambert didn't shore it up!! He had to call on Bent, who looks exactly like the man who knows his manager has alienated him, and limped off again. Will look forward to the next round!! Love seeing Villa lose!! (And NO Wonky, I'm not obsessed
Bradford have beaten more Premier League teams this season than QPR! It's moments like this that its good to laugh at Lambert, jeremygoss!
Bradford should be able to make it through to the final. Villa defence is just shocking at the moment, bound to let in one at Villa Park during the 2nd leg. However, they will get steamrolled by Chelsea in their pursuit of the domestic treble. No longer playing in the Champions League, they can play a shadow XI for the Europa games and concentrate almost entirely on the Premier League and Cups. The QPR loss seems to be a regular seasonal occurrence, mind you, it's cruel to give their fans hope of staying up...
Their defence is dreadful, when they got panned by Chelsea Lambert was playing three at the back along with wing backs I thought is it 1996 or something?
I would not like to see Lambert lose his job. He is not our manger any more but he was once and I don't wish him any ill fortune whatsoever. Whatever the reasons he left us for, he left u in a better state than when he arrived. And full credit to them for the way they managed to sneak a win over us.
So Bradford would beat us 7-2?? That wells lad looks promising..I see more potential in him than the over hyped Zaha
N'Zogbia is on 50k+ a week and he is absolutely ****, looks a pale shadow of the player he was at Wigan. Similar can be said for Agbonlahor who looks seriously overweight and about 15 years older than he did a year or so ago. That's a huge challenge for Lambert to get them playing for the shirt again because right now they don't look the slightest bit interested.
as i said at the time he left, villa are a club in decline. they aren't just a poor team, they've been getting gradually worse year upon year over the past five years. there was never going to be a quick-fix at villa park. yes, they won a european cup in the previous century but as our neighbours down the road know all too well, that means diddly if you're a shambles today. lambert is still a good manager - a very good manager - but his reputation is on the verge of collapsing pretty much overnight because the club is in such a state across the board. i don't care how much you feel let down by lambert or even if you hate him - i feel disappointed that he could lose all his hard work he did here and what looked to be an extremely promising managerial career. of course, its not over yet - i still think villa will scramble their way to wembley. i still think they'll stay up too. whether lambert is in charge to oversee these things i have no idea, but there's no doubt that villa are a poor outfit. we can count ourselves somewhat unlucky that we met them at the only period they've actually been playing at the top of their game, but having seen bradford last night (well i didn't see the whole match - i've recorded it and will watch it later) play so well, i almost felt glad that it wasn't us playing them cos THAT was embarrassing. could take some time for them to recover from...
What surprised me more was Lambo's manner - stayed seated for most of the game - no animation and at times looked disinterested. I'm working in Brum today and at the hotel I stayed at last night they interviewed Villa fans after the game who called the Villains performance "a disgrace" and really had a pop at the teams lack of fight. I also think they'll have enough to get through in the return leg, but a two goal margin isn't easy to overcome and Bradford will fight to the end which is something Villa clearly didn't do last night.
