    Morning Troops,

A PR SMOKESCREEN. Thats how I would describe the goings on at Elland Road lately.

Obviously its backs against the walls time, as the hiarachy try to deflect attention away from our starlets. Can't you imagine Barca, Milan, manure all queing up for the likes of Becchio, Lees, White and Byram? No....<doh>

So you don't buy it either?

I'm sure we'll all get on our hands and knees, all grateful that for the FIRST time in years our best players have not been taken away from us....

This is where I'm a little confused. If so called smaller clubs can keep hold of their best players, and continue to build, why can't we?

Do we have the smallest crowds in the division? <doh>

Maybe our ticket prices are too low? <doh>

We probably don't have a recognisable brand <doh>

Why is it that our books cannot turn a profit, whereas much smaller clubs in population, (Burnley have a population of 30,000) or Blackpool, can turn a profitable business.

If you remember a month ago, we were talikn about make Tate a permanent signing!!! Why have we only signed him til the end of the month? Could it be that we are looking for better players, or we do not have the money to buy anyone?

Morning Elland - I was just thinking the other day, it wouldn't surprise me if we get to 1st Feb and we have signed, Clint Hill and maybe Blackstock, all disappointed that the quality in midfield never arrived and we are told the best bit of business for us was turning down an undisclosed fee for the likes of Becchio, Byram and Lees. To be honest I would cash in on White now while we can still get something for him.

If we get Blackstock I do fear for McCormacks future with us, he clearly isn't appreciated by Warnock as much as he is by the fans. Blackstock in for £750k and McCormack out for £2m would be the usualy Leeds style. Actually it wouldn't, it would be out for £2m and in on a freebie...

Morning all you lucky Leeds fans. 7 days into the window and its still steamed up, so none of us know what will happen once the steam gets cleared. Plenty of rumor around selling our best players gain and also crap about Clint Hill and Blackstock. Hill is 34 and won't come for a 12-month deal, so a crazy idea to have another old lag who will be finished soon.

I'm still clinging to the hope that GFH are bringing in investors. Remember that GFH were originally fronting a deal for another group, but they pulled out because of potential future problems they could be liable for, because of Bates. As Bates has now gone and is no longer a director of the business, it may well be that the original group may want to get back in and invest in some or all of the business. This seems to be the only way GFH can possibly afford to invest in the team and service the debt left by Bates. Wages to sales turnover ratio is well below where it could be, so GFH could loosen the strings a bit and take a punt, but I'm hoping they have someone waiting in the wings to come in and help, because this club could be massively profitable, but needs to be in the prem to take advantage. Wallowing mid table in this league only makes us worse and each season it gets harder and harder to get out, because of a need to balance the books by selling better players and teams with parachute payments. INVESTMENT needed now and GFH must know that.

They have kept a low profile really and they must know that the fans deserve some information, positive or negative, but they need to come out and let us know where we stand. Please surprise us all and do some good here please

Morning all. I'm less cynical than some on here. Can't see how we're making a loss unless it's an accounting loss to keep the taxman away - similar in style to starbucks reporting a loss so they pay no tax in the UK!!!. I also agree with the oft-mentioned view that buying in January is not good business, as prices are inflated & you don't get the best deals. But I do hope we bring one or two in, possibly on loan with a view to permanent deals idc. I also hope we keep all our stars. At least that would show a level of commitment by the new owners. That said, all clubs sell. Its the nature of the best. Even ManUre sell their best players from time to time. Let's just hope that if we do sell Byram & co., we get a proper price for him & that money goes straight into Warnock's transfer pot.

Hoping for 3 big points on Saturday to lift the mood on here a bit.

EXACTLY Boggers <ok> and morning BTW

Not sure of Whites value but he would be my sacrifice, if we could get in the region of £2m for him and get in a couple of decent quality players who are not over the hill and ageing then good business in my books.

Morning all. I have to admire Boggers positivity. Wish I could get some of what he's having. Of course all clubs sell, we don't. We basically give our players away and replace with ****e. There is only one way gfh are going to fill the ever increasing number of empty seats at Elland Road and that's by signing proper footballers and giving value for money. Value for money being a team people want to watch at a reasonable price. As Ive said before, many fans like myself travel from overseas when we can, but with the rubbish available, it's impossible to justify blowing a huge wad of cash on that.
Once again, hope Boggers is right, the accounts are sound, we win Saturday and we bring in a couple of class acts without losing anyone. Somehow, I don't think so and nor do a lot of others I suspect.
On a side note, remember GFH know nothing about football or running a football club, theyve admitted as much, so are relying on Harvey and Bates for all their advise. Nice thought

If we were to get £2m for White, I'd drive him myself. The one thing he's got that you can't buy is pace... & plenty of it. If someone cold get him playing LB & then bombing down the wing to put a cross in and around the penalty spot, he'd be worth a fortune. Trouble is, we've been saying something along similar lines for the last two years, still with no progress.

On Hill & Blackstock, I don't care how old they are as long as they can do a job now to get us into the game that is the PL. If they then retire shortly thereafter, who cares? They did what was required. A bit like hanging on to Beckford & seeing him go for free as long as he gut us out of the wretch that is L1.

It has already been quoted that the deal breaker for Hill is Warnocks willingness to offer him a long contract, what long might be I have no idea but anything over 12 months is too long as far as I am concerned. Blackstock I am open minded about, he has a good few years left but do we need him with Somma, Diouf, Becchio and McCormack? - Sadly I really do feel his arrival would see the departure of McCormack

Correct about Hill. No one over 34 should get or expect more than a 12 month contract. Any more than that and we could be just adding another crock to our existing list down the line. It is going to take a hell of a lot more than Hill and Blackstock to get us into the premiership. We are a poor mid table team at the moment and need more than that.

Not sure about Hill. Maybe they'll compromise on 18 months. On Blackstock, same idea; 18m to 2yrs max.

Is there only me struggling to get a ticket for the Brum game (on the OS)?

Has anyone else tried this morning and failed?

Nice going LUST you wrongly announce that the club has £19.4m worth of debt and everyone else starts throwing it around alerting clubs that we might be willing to sell players in an attempt to clear it. Only bonus is that the link points to a page written by a novice who clearly hasn't a clue.

Is Becchio worth £4m? He's worth at least £4m. In this TW, we'd double that to ward off most if not all potential suitors. Let's just hope that our supposedly media savvy new investers have some good news for us soon. A tiny hint via twitter of FB would be useful.

If we don't have a proper winger by saturday then don't count on 3 points. I can see warnock going 3-5-2 again and it failing miserably
