I think £10m each on a number of established quality players is pretty sensible. Remember we have an allowance for transfers each year and the tv money so it's not like we're mortgaging the future plus the academy is producing should the worst happen.

As someone else put it perfectly, enjoy the ride!!

So if Fonte and Yoshida were fit, who would we drop for Astori?

Yoshida for me. Fonte has looked the more dominant of the two.

Neither if they don't deserve to be dropped. They had a good partnership going. However good Astori is, he has to earn his place like everyone else.

with the attackers we are apparently interested in we might as well play 1 at the back.

In response to the person who said Astori's agent was in a meeting with Galliani, CEO of AC Milan...

Renzo Contratto and Claudio Vigorelli form the agency which Astori is signed to.

However, Vigorelli only met with Milan to discuss another client.

Abbiati, the goal keeper. To agree a new contract.

    Quotes from his agent: http://j.mp/WpVwNz

    Seems pretty positive.

Where does it say 'each'? I inferred that they meant in total for Astori and Coutinho. Of course '8-figure fee' could be £20m, ha.

Seems like I'd be the only person who would drop Fonte over Yoshida.

I tend to agree with you, Fonte has looked quite shaky at times. Astori is the best of the 3 so I guess you'd try them both with him in training and see who's the better partner.

Fonte has been a rock since his rocky start, I don't mind Yoshida as a centre back but he's got to be the worst footballer I've ever seen. He can't pass or dribble at all which ruins our playing out from the back style. Passing out and starting attacks is one of Fonte's forte's.

A figure for both of them would be closer to £20m than £10m, I can pretty much guarantee that.
