If I was told that I'd be happy to have Best starting at the beginning of the season I'd have had the person sectioned under the Mental Health Act.

Good to have him back but lets NOT ever be in this position again.

Mainly because Amy and Lover were brilliant
he was unlucky not to score Plymouth when he hit the bar.

  4. Who cares?

He scores in the Premier league. He claims he wasn't given a proper chance, and when he was given the opportunity, he played well.

He's definitely our Best striker, followed by Lovenkrands and then Shola.

If we don't buy a striker or two in the summer - I would be looking at Best & Ranger starting from the off - we need to release Lover (although maybe good back up) - sell Shola (couple of Mars Bars will do - or keep him for Mackem games)!

For me the two strikers we should sign are someone like Gameiro, although he may be out of reach, and then somebody like Sigthorsson who would come on the cheap apparently. I also wouldn't mind Elmander as a back-up. For people who say no to Elmander...who would you prefer on the bench Elmander or Ameobi?

Were would Best be if we were to sign these players? I would personally rather have Best on bench to Elmander or Ameobi.

Four strikers. Lets say for arguments sakes we sign the following...Gameiro, Sigthorsson and Elmander. We could then sell Ameobi and Lovenkrands and loan Ranger to the Championship. That would then leave us with four good strikers. I'd be happy with that!

He is our best striker but that doesn't say a lot does it?

I'd be very happy with that too sounds good to me, can't see Ameobi leaving though and we could always just play him against Sunderland <laugh>

That's a good point. I can never see him leave either, but I hate seeing our team line-up and seeing his name! But I suppose he does have the odd good game.

Maybe if he gets more direct competition for his place he might buck his ideas up because at the minute he's guaranteed to start every game and it's doing him no favours at all.

Quite possibly. He is just so frustrating he can do something wonderful, such as instant control and taking it past a player and then he will just fall over! But I suppose 9 goals in 28 games is quite impressive, although two of them are pens and three are in the Carling Cup! So 4 goals from open play in the Prem is better than none!

What was it. Something like 6 goals in 10 apps?

If we only look at the facts, then that's a very impressive goal to game ratio. A lot of EPL teams would pay a good wedge of cash for a striker with that sort of record.

It might just be a flash in the pan run of form, but you can't deny that he was given 10 appearances and scored 6 goals in them. Even if that ratio dropped slightly, to say, 4 or 5 goals in 10 apps, he'd still be pretty damn good.

Take away the hat-trick versus a very poor West Ham side and it's 3 in 9...

Hey I still count that. A lot of strikers struggle to score even once in numerous games, so to score 3 times in one game (even against a poor side) is something to take notice of. It just shows what he can do on a good day.

He's never going to set the world alight but he's always going to chip in with goals every season so he is worth keeping imo.
