Skates are the lance Armstrong of football, systemic cheating on a massive scale, like Armstrong's entourage the blue few knew full well what was going on, but what the hell as long as they were above the scummers. Now led by their cheerleaders in the Portsmouth news, they moan about being competitive, and about fl deductions. Its the double standards that get to me, whining about the fppt, when they're losing, but quite happy with it when daddy gaydamak's blood money was funding Peter and arrys regime. All we get from them is fppt this and FA let is down, but the simple fact is that had the FA been as strict as the few want them to be, they'd have remained a lower league club, as they have been for 50 odd years. They're like a bloke who inherited a load of dosh, pisses it up and then blames the bloke who died......

It's blatantly a figure plucked from thin air, the only people that know the size of our war chest are Cortese and Marcus's relatives. I doubt even Adkins knows an accurate figure.

One thing I will say for the less fortunate down the road, is look at us now, spent a small fortune last window, looking to spend big again this month. Let's face it, none of us have a clue how it's all being financed and if it's "fit and proper" and if it's sustainable.

Don't get me wrong, I trust Cortese and he seems to have the correct credentials. But it does go to show, when things are going well nobody asks the questions because they are all too happy to be swept along in the fairy tale of it all. It's easy to look back afterwards and say "what the **** were we thinking, these guys were all obviously crooks".

Given Cortese's reputation and professional interests he would be stupid to do anything dodgy and given that SFC is part of the Leibherr group of companies I don't doubt a close eye is being kept on what is going on. I don't believe Cortese has a free hand and is therefore as accountable as we all are/have been to our employers.

However I buy my groceries in a large supermarket and I don't know whether they are dodgy or not and how would I know if they were?

I have been buying my coffee in a large international chain of coffee shops and it turns out they are a bunch of cheating liars.

I have to trust my supermarket but I have stopped buying my coffee from you know who.

I suppose it is called responsible consumerism which is a little more sophisticated than just buying where you get the lowest price.

Amazon are also now off the list of approved suppliers to the Godder's household.

You've got my attention, now answer this. Where do you chumps think baby gaydamak got his money from, surely you knew his dad was a dodgy arms dealer, yet not one skate ever complained about the FA's fit and proper persons test, you only started complaining when you started losing.

If Nicola rips us off and leads us onto the road to ruin you won't hear me complain "why did the FA let us down" or stamp my feet saying " it's not fair on the fans" .

If we ended up a shambles attracting only 400 away fans , I'd be on here asking the supporters who were here in the good times, where the **** are you now.

It's the woe is me moaning from skates I can't stand, as claridge ( a sensible skate) said, surely these people ( that's the blue fee ) knew it would end in tears. Where do they think the money came from.

When it all goes tits up for the PST and they're in yet another admin, knocking more local businesses and charities, there will still be soppy saints fans feeling sorry for them.

****ing hell, they've been playing the plucky pompey card since Fred Dinange had hair. They were in the 4th tied without a pot to piss in , feeling sorry for themselves 35 years ago. There comes a time when enough is enough.

Cortese has a bit of an ego, and a reputation for being hard to deal with. I could see his relationship with Saints someday ending messily and people saying "Come on, you kind of knew that could happen." But if he were a crook or broke that would be surprising because we know Leibherr is a huge multinational corpoartion.

Gaydamak was sketchy from the start. I think everyone pretty much knew that and if Portsmouth fans didn't they are lying to themselves or fools. Either he didn't have the cash to spend, or the cash he did have was dirty money. And every owner since has been blatantlya con artist.

But if that happens, what can you do as a fan but root for the club on the pitch and hope for the best? I don't blame Pompey supporters for that. Even when they were going under, all they could do was cross their fingers and hoped they weren't being lied to. I would not classify that stuff as turning a blind eye but just making the best of a situation that in any case you are helpless to fix.

The ones who, in the face of overwhelming evidence even as the club went into administration and were docked points continued to obnoxiously insist that these new rich owners were going to restore the club, I have little sympathy for. Especially those who did that and now know they have egg on their face and to avoid being called out and embarrased concentre more on what Saints are doing than the survival of their own club in an effort to change the subject. Loathesome. I don't know how many that is, but it's a least a very vocal minority. But I imagine the real Portsmouth fans have as little time for them as I do.

Morning LD....I see you have studied the book "how to win friends and influence people".....<laugh>.......
I wasn't going to get involved in these discussions until you called me a soppy Saints fan!
You see I am one of those people who feel sorry for the genuine Pompey fan and there are thousands like me. Yes you are quite right in some aspects of what you say. There was a hard core of Pompey fans that were delighted and over the top in their aspirations for the club and it's future and there still is.
I have been friends, as a lot of us have over the years, with Pompey fans. You would be surprised the number of those that predicted it would all end in tears long before their final downward spiral.
Your statements are at best generalisations and are totally inaccurate of why a fair few of us feel sorry for the fans. It appears to me that most your criticisms of Pompey are based on what you read on here and other forums of this nature.
It would be pointless for me, or anyone, to try and explain to you why we feel for Pompey fans as we do, as your mind is clearly putting up a barrier to any reasonable argument to the contrary.
While I agree there is a minority that think as you do, trust me in the main that is not how most think.
So if that means I am a soppy Saints fan.......So be it.......You see, I am proud to be called a Saints fan, I am proud of our history and I am proud of our history of sportsmanship too!!!

And because I suspect that a fair bit of Cortese's ego is tied up in the financial well-being of the club. As badly as he wants the team to succeed on the pitch, it's probably the thought of the team mired in debt that wakes him up with a start.

Cortese - much as I want to trust him - is a banker. Have we forgotten what the banking industry has done to the world's economy? Not only that, he's a Swiss banker; "Where's the nazi gold, you ****er?". Second thoughts, don't answer that last question.

Feel sorry for their fans but I think they are doomed to drop to league 2. It will be a long way back.

L2 is the least of their problems, in fact, that would be a gift. I can see one more deadline after the 15th so the football league gets a full quota of league games from them. After that, I'm not so sure there will be an after that.
