The Brady deal is an example of how reported transfer deals are mis read by some. The total deal is for Brady is for 2m. But this is not the amount that has gone into the ManU bank account. That amount could be as low as 500k. The staged payments, are possibly based on games played, promotion, onward sale percentage and include previous loan payments. On other threads there appear to be regular arguments regarding how much has been paid. We only get the headline figure, clubs themselves and between themselves never use it. It is a commitment to a contracted amount. It's never worth the argument over players like Prozzy or Brady as we th fans will never know the true amount. That is one reason why the books at the club where all over the place when the Allams came in. Contractual liabilities where not in the accounts and as such every contract had to be examined, including those of players no longer with the club. The Allams use every angle when it comes down to contracts. They only pay out directly what they have to. That is why some clubs will always outbid us when the same money appears to be offered. We got Brady this time but a cash rich club could knock us off the next deal.
Really like the way they do business ! Shows how immature our previous owners have been. Would have been well kn*****ed without their intervention and clout. Genuinely looking after the best interests of the club !
I'd say 95% of Transfers are do in that way. I read some where that Proschwitz real fee was £1.3m and we all thought Quinn's fee was £300k , but it turned out to be £2k a game for 50 games.
One of the Sunderland local papers mentioned that the Meyler deal would be in staged payments, but when I went back to it (to link it to a post) the story had been updated and that part had been mysteriously removed. However MON was then quoted as saying he would be able to use "part" of the money for his own signings.
I think the Meyler deal might be a little different to out other recent signings, i think their was more cash up front to tempt Sunderland.
If you mean the Quinn thing it was in an interview Bruce gave. You can actually work out quite a lot from the books if you know where to look. The problem is that by the time we get the figures to work out what Bruce has spent last summer and in January it'll be February or March next year.
