Just thought I'd cover them all with one thread and it's cheaper than booking all these separate taxi's.
I agree with them all apart from prossy. I think he still has something to offer. Under NB, McKenna was our STAND-OUT player, under SB he doesnt seem to have done owt, maybe thats because he has stood still and the rest of the team have improved around him, it is difficult to say.
There is absolutely no question McKenna and Oli are leaving in the summer so they can sort their own transport. Cairney is more than likely to jump in with them. For me the only contract debates are McShane and Simpson. I can see the former staying if he agrees a cut and the latter seems to have played himself out of a renewal in the past 2 months.
Strange game football isn't it, I remember a thread a couple of months back saying that we have to get Simpson's new contract tied up ASAP
Disagree ! We all know Simpson hasn't been knocking 'em in regularly enough ! On Saturday, though he seemed to me to be the only one working. Can't do a lot if those around you don't give a flying ***K ! Hope he's still around when Fryatt comes back from injury. Think you'll see a different Simmo, then ! !
If McKenna Oli and TC all go then we have no backup in midfield. SB seems to favour TC and I'm happy to go with SB's thinking. Dunno if the young lad who came on v Orient is any good?
Yes, and their contracts dont run out until the summer which is when we were talking about them leaving.
Sorry, didn't realise we were talking about summer transfers! I think we will be trying to offload Oli & McKenna this month
L'Orient's forwards were great IMO. They were proper target men, won a lot of headers, were strong and held up the play brilliantly. Mooney was a class act against us.
Correct. We blatantly need one or two strikers yet we seem to be struggling to do that. With the glut of midfielders at the club I doubt we will be buying any. Next summer could see wholesale changes but this window I cant see it.
Simpson's always working hard and holding it up but sometimes people just judge him on goals alone. A striker's job is to make the team score, not necessarily always score himself. If they're missing easy chances fine criticise them. If they play the whole game with their back to goal and don't score how can they be expected to? If the team are still scoring the strikers aren't doing a lot wrong. Simpson hasn't done much wrong since Wolves even if he hasn't scored. Still think we need another striker of course.
Quinn has shown up McKenna's deficiencies - age, speed, imagination etc - McKenna's a good player but we need better than 'good'.
He has missed a few sitter headers recently particularly. Dont get me wrong, as I said I like him and he is good, but I just dont think he's quite good enough.
I've said all along that he seems more suited to the 'Koren role' just behind the front men. He's a great player for holding the ball up and playing passes around.
