I thought there was a lot more money in the FA cup than this, I know there is obviously tv and gate money but thought the fa dug deeper than this http://www.thefa.com/TheFACup/More/prize-fund
Its certainly not a money spinner but them £2m for winning it isn't chicken feed either. Its a years salary for a good player. Plus don't forget there will be TV money; sponsorship opportunities; extra gate money and merchandising. It can also bring a renewed confidence and buzz - however as we saw last season, losing a quarter final can also set the rot in. The thing is its a guarantee into Europe AND is still a hugely watched event around the globe and raises the profile of the club. Also, when talking to new potential payers to sign, its always a nice thing to be able to chuck in you are a trophy winning side as well. Considering we are still celebrating 40 years after last winning it, its also a huge supporters favourite too.
If you go all the way and win you get just under 3.4m in total plus extra gates, merchandise, TV money etc, all in all a lot more than 3.4m realistically. We could sign Jeff Whitley again!!
