I hear you're point...but do not be too quick to dismiss RVP discussions because he is no longer an Arsenal player. Losing a player of his calibre at his utter sublime prime to Man U says EVERYTHING we need to know about what's happened to this club over the best part of the last decade. It's historical significance can't be undermined by pointing to the badge on his shirt.
I agree with all of that, hence the one big thread for him. Because we will talk about this again and again. If we had real winners in our board and if we had the old Wenger, we might have kept RVP and told Man Utd where to go, but sadly that was not the case.
That was the point of my article... that the initial frustration of the transfer (manifesting itself through the desire for him to endure bad luck) has changed into a strange contentment that he is fulfilling his potential. Sorry but you can't compare that with calling him a prick..even to this day.
I want the OLDDDDDDD WENGER BACK, THE OLDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDD WENGER BACK. Like this:
WISHING A GUY INJURY VS CALLING HIM A PRICK ISN'T COMPARABLE? The club gave him EVERYTHING and yes the Board ****ed up but the PRICK BETRAYED US. I can call him a prick because he is one One can be a great player and a prick at the same time.
I don't want to argue over this...but my original sentiment was a reaction to the FACT of the transfer... ie an injury would have been one of the best ways to render the transfer a failure. Your use of the word prick is a personal attack on his character, as proven in you post (betrayal etc) So there is a distinction. My view on that particular issue is loyalty is a naive expectation in any profession most of all football.
You are trying to justify wishing injury on a player Just stop. I don't care of loyalty is naive the bitch was given everything by the club and betrayed the club. He's a prick. End of story.
Not justifying anything...but highlighting that the premise of our views are completely different. Mine on the anger that an ex rival took our best player whilst your premise is his personal morality.
I don't see how he betrayed the club. When a player is no longer good enough for a club and the club decide to sell him, is that the club betraying the player? van Persie had reached a point where his ambition wasn't matched by Arsenal so moved to a club that was more suited to a player of his talent. He didn't owe Arsenal anything.
I'm sure the high scoring games this season make the difference. And if we did have rvp this season we would be in 2nd or 3rd place in the league right now, without a doubt.
They're showing highlights of RVP so far this season in the Manu-Liverpool review, lol, can't believe we let him go to a rival like Manu. Without a doubt, one of the most ******ed ever footballing decisions in the history of football. That's modern Arsenal for you.
One can argue the board had no choice...ie lose him anyway for free in 12 months. But the reason why we were in this situation is a culmination of a failure in management at all levels over the previous 5 years...ie allowing contract to run down and the failure of transfer policy
Never give your best player to a rival, I don't care if that means him going for free, at least that means he went, not us GIVING him to them. That's what we did, we gave the best striker in the league to them, not only is he the best striker in the league, he's one of the current best striker-player in the world, and we GAVE him to them.
