the pundits are saying this has been the weakest premier league season for a while, i don't remember them saying this when City were top of the league last season, for me, i don't know why they're questioning the strength and quality of the league, its the most entertaining league in the world in my opinion.
I think the premier league is stronger than ever. The pundits are just basing their opinions on a couple weak showings in Europe. The fact teams like Newcastle, Spuds and even WBA are up there shows theres strength right through the league and unlike Spain and German leagues there are no easy matches in the PL.
The premier league is always weak when United win it and really, really, really, really strong when Chelsea win it. Just ask District Line, he will tell you.
I think we probably have fewer world class players in the perm than there is in la liga, but the competition, quality of coaching and entertainment is far better in the epl than any other European league. I think the issue is that, on paper, Uniteds squad the past few seasons looks weaker than it has been for years, but they keep competing. The team is greater than the sum of its parts and has an exceptionalanager and coaching team. Might be a differnt story if City were not managed by a ****wit and Chelsea had managerial stability.
I wasn't having a dig' just saying that on paper, the individuals in the squad, Rooney and RVP aside, don't make the squad LOOK as strong, in the m/f and def especially. Like you've pointed out, you can't argue with the table. One argument could be that you are top because the league is weaker, as highlighted above. I don't think this is the case at all, I was offering a reason that the perception that the league is weaker is because there is a perception that the leaders are not as strong a side as they used to be, in reality I don't believe this to be true.
