I would not expect them to be so lackadaisical in the league, think the fact this was a cup game had something to do with it. Hope so anyway!
Negatives from today: 1) We lost. 2) Fonte's injury doesn't look to good. Positives from today: 1) We're out of the FA Cup and can focus on the most important thing, staying in the Prem. 2) We're definitely now signing one, and maybe now even 2 new CB's with Fonte out. 3) There's no issue with Astori (or whoever the first new CB is) coming straight into the side if Fonte is out. e.g. It won't cause any disharmony over who has the right to the starters shirt. 4) The performance of some of the fringe players who played may mean we spend even more this month. 5) Chelsea are now a lot more likely to underestimate us/rest like they did v QPR on Jan 16th & March 30th. Overall, more good than bad. Don't think we were really up for the cup run Nigel was on about as we didn't show much passion in our performance, and Chelsea were just out to prove the media wrong after the QPR result. Lat
Are we sure Fonte is out? (she said, looking for a morsel of comfort). We haven't signed Astori yet, have we?
Rodriguez has scored two in his last two starts, which incidentally have been against the two best defences in the country - cut the man some slack!
This result was always bound to happen in reality - it's a shame we collapsed as we did after going a goal up, but Chelsea have the ability to do that to teams. Thought J-Rod, Boruc and Fonte played well, and Steeeeeeve was decent and full of effort when he came on though he does have a tendency to lose the ball a bit much.
Agree with that, I don't really think we can do that much finger pointing today, certainly not at a second half sub? A lot of balls were coming in from their left, perhaps Richardson should have been given a game, but Chelsea were good even by their standards, you've just got to acknowledge that!
Terry Paine has gone into the dressing room, interesting. Probably going to give the lads a pick me up.
No it has been well established for some time now that Reed and Cortese officially pick the team. Oh and transfers as well.
Adkins has finished his interviews, so would have done his chat by now. It's known that loadsa people visit the dressing room after the game. Cortese has, Paine has, Sibley and the media crew and the vast array of other people behind the scenes too I'd imagine.
Winning would have been a bonus, so Adkins may be calm about that, but I bet he studies the DVDs to check if anyone was really slacking rather than being outplayed. Chelsea needed this more than we do as their fans expect a title. We want survival...at the moment would accept staying up by GD or a single point (although I think it will be better than that.).
