Daryl Duffy scored the winner for Cheltenham in a 3-2 away win against Northampton whose opening goal was scored by Adebayo Akinfenwa. Adebayo has been contacted by Warren Gaitland as Wales need a new scrum.
tatey scored a goal ......ok it was an own goal but at least he is on the score sheet. frank lampard scored 2 in his last game...
David Cotterill is Doncaster's top scorer, with 9 goals. Poor old Dobbie bench warms most games for Brighton.
I really feel for Dobbie. Remember his contribution, especially in the play off final against Reading.
Dobbie signing for Brighton was a puzzler for me at the time. They play an identical formation to us, therefore requiring only a single striker, and in Mackail-Smith have a CF who Dobbie was never going to displace. I hoped, when he signed, that Poyet was going to employ him in a wide role, as Holloway did at Blackpool, or in an attacking role at the head of the midfield, a la Brendan, but, as far as I can tell, he's been used from the bench as a direct replacement for Mackail-Smith, and as an out and out CF he is always going to struggle. He'd be much better playing in a team that uses a 4-4-2. In other news...Orlandi is a fans favourite down there and starts pretty much every game. This pleases me as he was a nice guy who deserves to be playing. Fingers crossed he gets the winner against the Geordies today.
...and we can't leave out Andy Robinson. Captaining Tranmere Rovers to the top of League one, as it stands. I'm surprised he can still walk after all the pies he's consumed!
And Orlandi scores first!!!! 1-0 Brighton. He was 12-1 to score first...and I put 3 quid on Mackail-Smith! I should have followed my heart instead of my head.
Orlandi finally playing regular games and getting the odd goal, looked the best ive ever seen him last season when playing in the prem league for us, has it in his locker just never had a consistant run in the team down here and struggled to cope with the strong competition for places,i wish him the very best at Brighton and hope they get to the prem league. What about the dobster ?? has he done his normal thing and found the bench very comfortable yet again ?? or is he injured? Dobbie was never a 90min footballer IMO and that is a shame, managers dont like to start a player that they know will be tired on exactly 70mins another player who did great for us and i wish him all the best there too
Intresting point, i remember when people were barracking me for Dobbie being sent out on loan, there was talk of his attitude then but even when Hollaway took him on loan he mentioned that he "would do alot better if he did the things i told him to do" and that was classed as a succesful loan for him, even though up there he was on the bench more often than not, im amazed that so many thought he was unlucky not to play for us in the prem league,it was clear to many that he is not up to a high standard of ability or fitness, championship is his level but application must be there and it is clear to see that all the talent in the world isnt enough, you have to have the fitness level and apply your self correctly. Swnasea championship-never did much under sousa, got injured early . Blackpool championship- did well but never started every week, spent time on the bench and came on to score vital goals to help promotion Swansea championship- bench most of the season, played a massive part 2nd half of season when fitness levels were lower in the division Swansea premier league- never figured and was always well down the pecking order, had a couple of games but was too slow for prem level in speed and technique. Blackpool championship- went on loan again ,spent most of his time on the bench Brighton championship- started off ok then ended up on the bench early on and stayed there ever since basically. Not the player that many thought he was, it seems that Sousa,Rodgers,Hollaway and poyet are not totally convinced by him but is a valuable bench player/super sub. Brighton championship
