View attachment 20206 vs We get a break from the league this weekend as we take on Huddersfield in the Fa cup third round. On new years day we won a seven goal thriller against watford 4-3 with goals from Kermorgant (2), Jackson, Hoban (OG). Huddersfield also had seven goals in their game against but they were on the end of a 6-1 drubbing at the hands of Leicester City. Charlton Athletic's Home Form W3 D5 L5 F17 A20 PTS14 Huddersfield Town's Away Form W4 D3 L6 F14 A25 PTS15 I have included the form of both teams however league form counts for nothing in cup competitions and the fa cup really is an unpredictable cup competition. Previous Meetings 24.11.2012 Charlton Athletic 1-1 Huddersfield Town 24.03.2012 Huddersfield Town 1-0 Charlton Athletic 28.11.2011 Charlton Athletic 2-0 Huddersfield Town 16.04.2011 Charlton Athletic 0-1 Huddersfield Town 28.08.2010 Huddersfield Town 3-1 Charlton Athletic Top Three Goalscorers- Charlton Athletic - Huddersfield 5 Haynes - 4 Clayton 5 Jackson - 4 Novak 5 Kermorgant - 4 Vaughan Team to play Huddersfield - Pope Solly Dervite Morrison Fox Green Jackson Pritchard Harriot Wright-Phillips Kermorgant Subs Hamer Taylor Stephens Azeez Ruben Bover Kerkar Fuller I'd put out a team mainly of senior players with a few youth players included in the starting line up and subs bench. It's time to see what our younger players can do! I'm not sure how many of you feel about the fa cup but it's a competition I would love us to do well in. I love watching the fa cup with many underdogs triumphing over big teams every season. This is not the glamour tie I wanted for the third round but it is a chance for us to progress and earn a glamour tie that will bring more money into the club and hopefully provide us fans with a great day out. I think we can win this game and should go out to try and do exactly that. A reply should try and be avoided at all costs as no one really wants to be going to Huddersfield on a tuesday night! I reckon we will win and I'll go for 2-0.
Nice one, Belv. Unlike everyone else on 'ere I'm pretty happy with this draw, it should be a decent game and it gives us a chance to progress into the hat for Sunday's draw. The only thing that concerns me is that we've just had a great result, Udders have just been thrashed, so that can only mean one thing.................. I'd pick the same sort of team as yours, but I hope The Doctor doesn't play any of the players who he intends to get rid of, so the team selection should tell us whether he intends to get rid of Green, Waggy Taylor and BWP, especially now that he has recalled Azeez. Having watched many dreadful Cup performances over the years I'm going for 1-0 to Udders. Hope I'm wrong.
Ruben bover tweeted: @ruben_bover: All the best tomorrow boys deserve that @bjordan47 @MA_Fox @Cally_messi @S_Ajayi5 jordan and ads. #cafc Now without searching the net as I'm out and about- is there an important u21 or 18 game, or is it they have been named in the first team squad?
the development team are all congratulation each other and wishing each other well for tomorrow. think we'll be seeing a team made up full of reserves / youth heard it here first!
I can't see that happening. The OS today states "Powell has hinted he will rest one or two players who have featured heavily over the festive period". "One or two" does not suggest wholesale changes. Plus Powell stresses the importance of getting through to the next round. Maybe the club has given the youngsters computer games for Christmas. I understand they are popular with young people these days. We used to make our own toys out of empty cocoa tins, a few glass marbles and some discarded condoms. And we were never bored.
Not sure where to put this- but for those who like a punt I got nearly 8/1 on a treble of villa, Norwich and reading. I think that's amazing value! As for the game- I am never confident when we play in any cup (other than the people's cup), and think this will go to a replay (boo). 1-1
I think after their tonking last week, 'Udders are going to be well up for this one but I still fancy us to shade this - 2-1 to us. Rob Elliot in goal for Newcastle in the early game against Brighton.

Wow - more changes than anticipated for me. The midfield looks weaker than normal - Cook to me is a 4-3-3 striker rather than a winger. Still it's a competitive side and I'll once again stick with 1-1

Hope the missus is looking after you, AH I think you're right IA. That or BWP will be playing wider to support one of the wingers. Looking at 'udders team, it looks like they've gone full strength.
Not as adventurous as I'd have liked, but we're obviously serious about a fourth round place. Good chance for Cook to establish himself but astounded to see Stephens there - maybe the move to Villa isn't as close as some people have predicted. Er, including me, I hasten to add...
6 of the team that started in Leicester. Plus Beckford who is on loan from Leicester I think, so 7 first teamers. Charlton team contains 6 of the players who had started against Watford. Seems even. Hope you get better soon All Ell
We'll get the District Nurse to drop in, AllHell - and don't give it to the dogs... Just got a text from an exiled Geordie at work - "Worst Newcastle performance I've ever seen. I can stand clueless, but not gutless. My brother and cousin left at 1.30am to get to this game, now we're at The Valley hoping to watch some actual football."
