According to Sky sports Rumour Watch an official CCFC announcement says he is holding talks with city for a permanent move. good or bad??
Another rumour says we are in talks with QPR to take a player on loan, the most probable being striker Martin johnson. Anyone know what he's like?
Malky had both Danny Graham and Sordell at Watford, but Graham seemd to get the nod. Sordell was younger and a sort of a bit part player. Those two are totally different. Graham is a grafter in the Malky mould who can scores goals. Sordell is an out and out striker who has an eye for goal and can score them from nothing. If I had to choose either, Sordell would win for me on two counts. Firstly, he would be more akin to what we need, and secondly he sould be much cheaper.
Sordell for me too. Don't know anything about the other guy. He's not on Wiki. Is the spelling right?
I really like Sordell, but I do have to admit he's spent a lot of time on Boltons bench and that does worry me. He's pretty physical, quick and can score goals. Id like this one to happen
I think Graham is talking to N'Castle and/or other Prem clubs. We need a striker more than another mid-fielder. That would do for me. Now for defenders My only problem with this is if it allegedly came from official sources it is really totally out of character with the way Malky does business.
I think it has been pretty clear we have been after Sordell for a while so it isn't a surprise. What is surprising is, as Xsnaggle points out, that it has come from an official source, we haven't risked announcing bids for players so far so why now?
The problem is the rumour page on Sk sports anyone can post on so everything is just piss-in-the-wind until it happens
I liked Sordell and wished we signed him last season but is he match for hasn't featured much for Bolton over the last year and we need someone to hit the ground running! And if Bolton are off loading Sordell to make way for Charlie Austin we've had the lesser of the two deals!! Charlie Austin Any day of the week!
Big price difference between those 2. I'm not sure Austin will score pl goals, I think he might be a top championship striker but struggle to make the step up. A bit like Adam Le fondre, but that's very much just my baseless unprovable (for now) opinion
I can't see Bolton selling Sordell for less then what they bought him for 3.5mil he's only 21 and prob on a long term contract! Austin is what we all been asking for! A tall powerful striker to hold up the ball and prolific in front of goal 36 goals in 69 appearances so a superb strike rate at this level! With a struggling side! imagine what he could do with the quality in out team! he's still young only 23... I'm not saying Sordell is bad, just don't think he will come straight into the team and do a job straight away we need someone to come straight in and make an impact just like Wood has at Leicester
I was surprised we didn't look at woods to be honest. I won't argue that Austin would be great for the rest of this season but there's a reason no prem club has taken him despite his consistently impressive record in this league. They took Sordell to the pl for 3.5 and have sat him on the bench through relegation and half a season in the championship. His value has definitely dropped. If they want rid of him it's not how much they want but what someone is willing to pay that'll be the decisive factor. As snags says though, this whole thing has been started by the SS rumour page that is basically a free for all that anyone can post. The page is also full of player x at gatwick type BS.
Sorry to disagree guys but I think Austin is a flash in the pan. Apart from one early shot he did not impress against us and to me he looks slow and overweight. Yes he has a good record this season but once defences work him out this will not be sustained. Also, he doesn't work back much to help his team, he is currently out with a hamstring injury and Dyche says he is not for sale anyway. Sordell is younger, quicker and has a better work ethic. Malky knows him and what he is capable of. Yes, Bolton paid £3.5m for him against the £3m we offered but he has hardly shone with them so must expect to come down on that price. As I said earlier, £2m to £2.5m is realistic. He is not a big guy but is more in the style of Maynard so there is some relevance if Malky's intention is to play more to feet and use the channels. Apart from his time at Bolton (possibly their style of play does not suit him), he had a good Championship record at Watford with 27 goals in 73 games.
I would go for Austin over Sordell. However i think Malky will go for Sordell. More than happy to trust Malky though.
