Sorry i should have said "in my opinion" but then again i know how slated people get for having opinions on here!! I'm sure i read in the past he was putting himself in for contention by the way he is playing , but i'm sure you know best. I'm sorry.
Strange how we value our own players, yet if the team bought a talented young midfielder like Morgan now who has not played for his country, and has only played in the lower leagues for 10 million some on here would have a fit. Not saying he is not worth it.
Do you know, I thought for one moment I had stumbled onto the Pompey board. Their squad is all for sale, only the valuations don't have "M" on the ends! At the end of day, most of the players listed are not the ones who will be leaving although I am very curious what Punches plans are. Leaving on a free in the summer might give him great payday.who would pay much now when they could pick him up for nothing in the summer? On the other hand could we turn down a couple of million if we had signed someone better?
Yes, but Saints don't need the money, and Schneiderlin is critical to our survival. Even if Saints got 10 million for Schneiderlin they might have difficulty signing a player of equal talent due to their current reputation/standing and that player would have to slot right in. At best, it would waste valuable time negotiating a sale, and a replacement buy when Saints already have a lot of work to do in the window bringing in a defender or two and a winger. Premiership survival is worth at least 3 or 4 times 10 million to the club. If anyone were to go (and not saying I advocate this), it would be someone like JWP who doesn't seem like he is crucial at the present. You could sell him for a slightly older, more advanced player to tide us through this first season and then hope someone else in the academy will step up and take his place or we will be in better shape to attract a high caliber player in a year or two when JWP would be a big part of the side. I think that for any of our critical first-teamers-- Lambert, Lallana, Schneiderlin, Clyne, Ramirez-- they are all worth more to Saints than they are objectively worth or that other teams will pay. Unless those players want to leave, I can't see Saints selling.
The huge advantage of players like Schneiderlin, Lallana, and Lambert is that they are experienced playing for Saints. Players who have been here for a while form a frame that new players can fit in to. Would hate to lose any of them.
They are value of the players to us, not their market value. When near the bottom of the league, a player like Lambert is worth more than you would ever get if you sold him.
Yep in a way . Certain posters spend way too much time spunking over made up speculation and the next piece of random twatter gossip. Then when someone airs an opinion bring on sarcasm and / or sniping. The fact of disagreement doesn't bother me but it was more of a statement of me being completley wrong. oh well i look forward to the next FM link or "quick somebody tweet Nixon" that will keep us all entertained
I think some of our fans are well overpricing our squad Ramirez is worth the same as when he came but the price as ever depends not on the player but how much the person/club wants him. Our squad is up there with the best in Europe with some of those prices, how can Rodriguez's price go up? Lambert £9 Million? Yoshida £4Million? Are people smoking the pipe? I think Cortese would take half of that for all players mentioned and be happy. Very happy.
This is how much we would be willing to sell them for, not what their objective value is. Obviously we are unlikely to be particularly willing to sell any of them, hence the inflated figures. I don't see what's so strange about that.
So we would only be prepared to let Lambert go at £10 Million approx Rodriguez would now leave us for £10 Million? We value at that? How do we know that and what evidence gives us to believe his value has actually gone up since he has arrived? We would be prepared to let Yoshida go for £4 Million? Really? How do we know this? I get hammered for being negative but this really is up there
We don't know of course, this is all wildly speculative. I'm struggling to understand your line of argument here, are these players overpriced or underpriced, in your opinion?
