On BBC site he said "I'm here this year to try to keep them in this league" Interesting use of language... "this year" and "them" Maybe that's just his way of speaking, but it jars a little especially since his contract is to the end of 2014/15. http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/20892867
I noted that but decided not to read that into it. After all, he also stated he was after "er, that lad that's been training with us, er (what's his name - almost) Ben Tal Heim"!!
He has always referred to his teams as 'them', did it frequently at Spurs. If we go down and he gets an offer from a Prem club or international team, of course he'll go. May even demand a massive spending pot to stay on if we survive and he has options. One thing for certain - if we go down, it won't be Harold's fault.
You forget, the guy admits to being dyslexic, he says he doesn't read and has difficulty writing. I suspect that even that is an embellishment of his skills. But the guy is a hell of a good football manager
This was not the first time he has referred to us in the third party you will notice how he says "I'm to do a job at QPR" as well which suggests that what ever happens he will be off at the end of the season. Now we know why TF is still paying the wages of MH and staff obviously there coming back
Didn't he sign a 30 month contract? I don't think he's going anywhere; if he keeps us up, bueno. If he doesn't, won't help his CV much.
It's all gravy for Harry. If we stay up he gets all the plaudits and TF will be able to say the change of manager was a stroke of genius and we can all look forward to better times in the Premiership for 2013/14. If we go down he can say the task was far too difficult with so few points so far into the season when he took over and that he did his best but the Hughes era signings were to blame. He can then opt to leave because I don't think he'd have any trouble getting another job (albeit not a top 6 team) or he could stay with us in the Championship if he fancies a season or two more in W12. I never thought we'd ever get the likes of Mark Hughes (even though it didn't work out) or Harry at QPR and if there is a manager out there that could keep us up then Mr Redknapp would be top of most people's lists. He might have an odd delivery but Harry often has to think on his feet when questioned so I am not really worried about the odd slip of the tongue. Let us revel in the victory against the Scumbags, we can be down to earth with a bump any time soon! Or is this the start of Operation Jammy Buggers?
'Arry's been referring to us as 'we' since day 2 - most of the time... which surprised me a bit. His generation of cockney sparrers often go impersonal third person anyway. The score so far: (ManU game not counted) Arry Redknapp...P8...W2..D3..L3..F7..A10..Pts9 (GD...-3) Mark Hughes.....P12..W0..D4..L8..F9..A23..Pts4 (GD.-14) Third person or not, at least 'Arry's saying something!
Lets not get all antsy about a few words this morning, eh? I mean it's a new world today! It's so lovely out after yesterday, isn't it? I can walk down there around the 'Bridge and take a really big satisfying breath (OK so I don't want to smell all ****e but you get the point) and have a huge smile on my face!
Benitez is getting pelters all round for his team selection, quite a few journos saying he disrespected us with the team he put out especially resting Mata and Hazard...
I think to be fair I thank that the "them" that HR refers to is the fans. He was talking about the fans having not much to cheer about at away games and said that he is here to try and keep them ie the fans in the premiership. At least that is the context that I took it in.
I think he's referring to the purpose of his appointment and the job description handed to him by Fernandes. He's been brought in to keep us up, that's why he's here, that's why he replaced Hughes! I'd still imagine he'll probably go if we get relegated, but i don't think there's anything too untoward in this interview.
