I think this would be an excellent move for us. Also, quote from Gary Parker, Celtic coach re Gary Hooper's possible move - "It's down to the manager and the people upstairs - but why would he want to leave when he has Champions League football?" Yes, that's true, but does he honestly think Celtic will progress beyond the next round by beating Juventus???
Plus, from the players point of view, apart from 10 or so CL games, he's plodding along for the rest of the year like a big fish in a small pond - alias the SPL (minus Rangers). Surely he'd rather be testing himself by playing against world-class opposition every single week in the most competitive league in world football? Nice try Parker, but your arguments are seriously flawed
i'd have thought we are not the only premier league club looking at Gary Hooper, if we were as reported.
Looks like Mr Butterfield is to go out on loan again, this time to Crystal Palace. Makes you wonder why we signed him in the first place ? http://www.touchlinetalk.com/norwich-city-midfielder-set-for-loan-move/22445/
I don't think we'll get another striker in until we get rid of one. Can't see Graham coming as why would he want to move to another club and sit on the bench? We play one up front and Holt is the obvious first choice.
err, cos he's an excellent young player. he's still trying to recover from a career-threatening injury remember. it might be that he needs to be playing week in, week out to recover fully from it and he won't do that here, at least not yet. why are people so quick to write players off? just think about it for a second...
no substance to this, but i was thinking earlier that morison may be a viable target for former club millwall now they have lost wood to leicester. i could see it happening...
I'd be happy with Kayal. IIRC was linked to some massive clubs a year or two back and for 5m would improve our midfield greatly if he can rediscover that form. As for Graham..would be a good signing if we aren't going to venture abroad.
I'm not 'writing him off', I was just wondering why he hasn't been given a chance since his injury that's all. I suppose what you say would make sense, on the other hand CH might be thinking that he's not what he's looking for after all, just think about it for a second ...
Why bring him back from Bolton - only to send him out on loan to another club, where he won't know the players/staff, system they play or anything else? Makes more sense to allow him longer at Bolton where he's reasonably settled, short-term?
palace are a team that suits his style more, they are doing better in the league and its closer to norwich. bleeding obvious move i would say! all about playing games and bolton have preferred to use him as an impact sub as he doesn't fit into their formation at the moment. edit. JR beat me to it
I like the possibility of Beram Kayal from Celtic. This is from his Wiki Page: "Kayal is a central midfielder but he is capable of performing various different roles within the position. He can play as a defensive midfielder, sitting in front of the back four and stifling the opposition or as a box-to-box midfielder, protecting the defenders as well as supporting the forwards. Although he is more renowned for his defensive capabilities than attacking, he is still able to contribute well to going forward. Kayal is a tenacious, hard working midfielder, known for high stamina level, aggressive tackling and combatative edge, he also has great passing ability and quick feet. Ex-Celtic and Israel midfielder Eyal Berkovic, described him as being: "Perfect for British football. He is strong technically, very aware but really competitive...He will have no problem adapting to the style in Scotland - he will love the speed and aggression." It may be that he would take Fox's place in mid-field, or possibly Lappin's if it happens. It sounds like he and Tettey would make a formidable partnership in front of the defence as well as going forward. I like the idea of Graham, but at a cost of around 4-5m shouldn't City be looking for more pace and something different to offer up front. With Kayal also valued at around 5m, that would make a big expenditure on two players.
It'd be a big expenditure, but to continue to improve the squad, I'd guess we're going to be looking to sign fewer players, but probably at greater cost.
i would like to see some pace added if possible into the forward line or left wing as competition for pilks, but the cost of doing that may be beyond our reach, certainly in january anyway
