Just back. I know this is a heated derby and all that but a few things.... Our fans were searched twice on the way in. A huge security operation. Many / Most QPR fans missed kick off. Totally overkill - not seen this this aggressive at a ground before. At half time - the Chelsea mascot (some silly Lion)came and flicked 'V's' at the QPR fans then waved his ass at the QPR fans - is this the sort of stuff that mascots do? Did our mascot ever do this? Some old chelsea player comes on at half time to get a clap. The ground commentator says - he's won more medals on his own than QPR have in their whole history. At the end MBia come to the crowd to give his shirt to some kid in the QPR end. He is manhandled by stewards and blocked from doing this. He has to push his way through and is held by Chelsea stewards. Can you EVER remember stewards touching a player / blocking them from throwing their shirt into the crowd. Felt great to win there. Hate them. Scum!
Mate happens every time I've been down at chelski with us, total ob overkill but its too be expected I've seen it get proper nasty at times, even rangers on rangers
I knew Mbia would get in trouble for going into the crowd at some point. They are a horrible club http://www.cfcnet.co.uk/2013/01/qpr-lambs-to-the-slaughter/? They do it time and time again, remember the official preview before we beat them last time? The fact is we get to them and they hate it, we have kept only 2 clean sheets all season and both were against them.
LaLaLa Agree with all those points. You always get searched at the ground but there felt like there was something particularly oppressive about the Chelsea staff. I went to Spurs away last year and remember thinking the security staff were good guys and was happy to be searched by them. The Mbia incident was really strange, I've never seen anything like it before and I think Mbia thought the guard was messing about as it was so ridiculous. On top of this the final bit of strangeness was the "home from home" bar where the drinks staff were all in QPR kits, why?? I was totally baffled by that.
IronMan - I asked the bar staff why they all had QPR shirts on. They said that they have done this all season - worn the kit of the visiting team - to avoid any abuse - apparently fans are less abusive to bar staff if they have their team's kit on. Strange but true!!
Old Trafford is equally as bad. You have to go through some strange s shaped queue to get to the turnstiles whilst being searched by failed police candidates. You can't even take a half empty bottle of water in. Airports are less strict than that. And once you get in and to your seat, god forbid you should stand otherwise you shall be arrested and ejected. Although in fairness to Chelsea, at least they dont play crowd noises and cheering through the loudspeakers over the away fans in an attempt to silence them to maintain the silence required for the "theatre of dreams"
There was a sniffer dog at Arsenal, not sure if it was for explosives or if Pete Doherty was attending! Youll often find away stewards are the haemorrhoids of society. They get their kicks from being twats and abusing what little authority they have.
Sniffers for obvious reasons, have our mob are too far gone on the marching powder at most game it usually ends in tears
Thought the OB and steward presence was a bit OTT but to be fair they let us stand all game which some clubs don't and could have thrown out plenty when the goal went in. In the end I just saw one quite tasty bird dragged out. Also enjoyed the horrifically middle-class bloke with the microphone and his 'banter'.
I don't want to put a dampener on your win because you lot deserved it but welcome to the real world. I've been to all away games apart from Norwich and Everton this season and at Arsenal, Spurs, West Ham, Leeds and QPR we were searched twice before going in. A lot of stewards try to refrain players from throwing shirts into the crowd... I don't get it but they do... not just us. And that guy at half time always has a little dig at the away team/fans... called banter However our seats are right next to the away end and you were loud tonight. Loud chants and very witty as well. In other posts I have said I want you relegated but thinking back on it, it would be alright having you in the prem... Although we don't hate you that much tbh it's a nice derby and always feisty
I thought the rozzers in attendance seemed perfectly decent. Those security/stewarding goons, on the other other hand.... HELMETS. It was a real pleasure to mob one of them on the way out of the stand and try to get the miserable sod dancing a jig of joy with a couple of Rangers fans.
i never liked there p.a who slagged off ffc fans, and i nearly got thrown out 2 years ago, i would not mind i knew the bar steward from my way, tosser
Nowhere is as bad as at WHL (at least for Chelsea fans anyway). Treated like animals, last season we missed kick off and their goal for no good reason as they made us wait outside in the freezing cold and laughed at us. Old Trafford is awful as well though. Best stewards by a mile are Arsenal IMO.
I had a steward at hillsborough eject me through the home exit of the ground (after we invaded the pitch when winning promotion in 02/03) instead of sending me back up to the QPR section. As a result I got bashed up by a load of p issed up p issed off shef wednesday yobos! pretty scary stuff!! great result today. worth the 6.30am wake up! you rsss!
