If Blackburn are going to continue to get it wrong they should appoint Roy Keane he'd really fook it up for them.

They'd have been better appointing one of our other ex-managers, but good luck to PT. He brought some great times to City and really set the ball rolling for us.

He applied for the job, but forgot to put a stamp on the envelope.

Good luck to Peter Taylor - a great manager who DELIVERED for us, instead of the empty promises of all those before him.

Can only assume they haven't done the hard yards of Gray, Appleton,Ternent, Dolan, Hately, Molby etc

Yet here we are rubbishing the bloke who finally turned the tide, and who always speaks of our club in glowing terms.

    Sad.

I thought PT did a great job. Two promotions and a solid season in Championship is no mean a achievement at our club. Personally feel we would of gone up with PT in charge, but would of took alot longer.

I know his career has took a nosedive since he left us, but he actually might do a good job there. He's a good coach and knows how to organise, he just need to pray that the idiotic owners don't have another brain explosion.

i didn't go through those hard yards until hateley was in charge, but i still only look fondly on what happened under Taylor. Hard to believe most of these posters seem to only remember him as not good enough for this level, i hope he gets the job and does well. There's no real evidence to suggest he was doing poorly with us at this level anyway, we were doing well and staying clear of relegation with a squad mainly made up of our Division 3 and League 1 players. Then he got taken by Palace, before we slumped under Parky.

Taylor did great for us really, am sure he regrets leaving us for Palace, can't remember the exact details but seem to remember it was a similar thing to Pearson thinking he was on a step up only to find out the only way is down from the mighty Tigers

Appleton and Gray were decent managers imo...(farmer) Dolan is where the hard yards were trodden...took us down to the bottom division and was rewarded with a new contract

Taylor was absolutely brilliant for us, the right man at the right time, but his tactics in the Championship were more about not losing than they were about winning and that never works.

In many ways I see regard him in the same way I do Brownie, he was responsible for some of the best times I've ever had as a City fan, but once we'd reach a certain level, he was out of his depth.

Great post that OLM - agree with every word :)

Have to say if Blackburn do appoint PT their car crash of a season will continue. Maybe they are going for a record number of managers in one season? Anyone know which club has that distinction by the way? (I haven't got a clue - but some club must've been trigger happy at sometime!

from what we saw you're right, but it's hard to know if that's how he would have continued under his management had he not left for Palace. When he was with us in the Championship we were a team that had to focus on not losing as we were new to the league with a small squad, you're probably right though...

If you count caretaker managers I'm going to say QPR from a few years ago.

07/08 - Gregory, Harford, De Canio
08/09 - Dowie, Ainsworth (ct), Sousa, Ainsworth (ct)
09/10 - Magilton, Gallen (ct), Hart, Harford (ct), Warnock

To be fair to them. Gregoy was there when they took over so they wanted their own man, and Harford might have been a caretaker manager. De Canio they wanted to keep but he went back to Italy for personal reasons. Dowie was brought in to play nice attacking passing football (so that's a failed appointment). Sousa went and revealed information about players that he shouldn't have done (re injuries and their long term effects). Magilton got into a fight with a player, I can't remember what happened with Hart, and Warnock obviously got them promoted the following season and then the club was taken over again (sort of, it's 33% taken over)
