I wouldn't disagree with you about Hurricane Fly, and in regards Binocular, I think it is more causality that has given him a late start to the season. He is going to be tough to place prior to the CH, but as long as they get him to the race fit and well, I can see him running a big race.
Mullins was sweet on him the last day post race saying he's back to 2010 levels. I'm a Fly fan but won't be betting in that race till the day I would imagine. Dodging Bullets is a big price then Barneygoing off the weights. He's also got that little bit more experience which can only help.
Afternoon all 5.20 Kemp - CALDERCRUIX @ 16/1 Has dropped back down to a winnable mark and Mr Evans has booked the jockey he always uses when this one is up for winning in Raul De Silva(both AW wins came with him onboard) Good luck everyone
My only significant ante post Cheltenham investment is Pont Alexandre who I think is potentially a little special.
Me too Bob, which race do you think Ponte Alexandre will go for? I remember being in the same situation last year with regard to Simonsig, funnily enough its the same two races that are casuing me the problem this year!
The handicapper needs to lay off the crack pipe after that judgement. Mental. A race that needs to be forgotten about as it was a joke. Darlan favourite for the CH hahahahaha worst crop of juveniles i've seen in ages. Wont get near the likes of Rock on Ruby, Grandouet & The Fly. Beats Raya Star by 4 lengths and is rated 166
I had the same problem with Boston Bob. Backed him for both. Will top up nearer the time when things become clearer.
Mr Henderson has said that re his 3 current Champion Hurdle candidates there respective ‘prep’ race will be any one from the ‘Irish Champion’, Sandown’s ‘Contenders Hurdle’, the ‘Kingwell’ and that valuable Kelso heat that Zaynar got turned over in a few years back. Rest assured though, people, that Mr Henderson will pick the right race for the right horse. If Binocular and Darlan get to the Champion Hurdle this time around it is likely that the former will have a new pilot in the race (Andy Tinkles, perhaps???). I just hope that whoever is on board doesn’t make the same mistake McCoy did last year and ride Binocular to beat Hurricane Fly and thus ignoring everything else – such a scenario enabled the excellent Noel Fehily to steal the race. One point to ponder though is that Binocular could, if the racing Gods have been kinder, be coming into the 2013 Champion in search of his 5th crown. He won it in 2010, of course, got less than vintage rides in 2009 and 2012 whilst in 2011 was robbed of the chance of participating by those ‘unfortunate circumstances’. Meanwhile, on Oscar Whiskey I’m so pleased that his owner is now letting the forum’s favourite trainer handle the horse as he deems fit. The Cleeve Hurdle is next and seemingly the ‘Welsh Champion Hurdle’ route has been abandoned.
I'm just trying to read between the lines (so could be well off) but Champagne Fever is shorter on Betfair for the Neptune than Pont Alexandre and both have the same owners (would they both go in the same race?) I also think that the Neptune looks a harder race at the moment as i like Puffin Billy and think that is where he will end up. All guesswork of course but i'm now going to have a bit on for the AB!
Interesting Ouija. BB trod the AB route as well following his campaign. Pont is better than champagne fever (I think)
I agree Bob, i've never been a huge fan of champagne fever but you cant argue that the form of the Royal Bond is working out well with Jezkis last run and also the third Zuska who was getting a fair bit of weight winning very impressively recently, albeit not sure it was a very strong race.
Hey ho Oddy .. Old Boris never got a blow in ... still hanging tough for a four timer ... fingers x'd ..Forestside nicked that last race from Talkin Sence ..
