...of Nigel and the lads, they made a very good Arsenal team (in good form) look very ordinary. a great team performance but I must single out Morgan for a beast of a performance in midfield and Corky who was absolute class at RB...play like this and we will finish between 11th-15th this season...
Will take some going to finish that high! But yeh I agree the only question is if we can keep the consistency good which has been a lot better recently!
Played very well today, we could have won it but a point is good. Although, I was not confident at all in Boruc today.
Play like that for the rest of the season and we should stay up that is for sure........An exceptional game!
We said after the Man City and United games "if we play like this we'll be fine". Not getting excited too soon. Still, a good result and performance
I disagree, Arsenal are hardly in good form. A high scoring win against Newcastle aside (in which they still managed to concede 3 goals against a team who are hardly in brilliant form themselves), they managed flukey wins against Wigan and West Brom and getting knocked out of the league cup against Bradford as well as losing to Swansea and Olympiakos. Which is a shame as I like Arsenal, but you can hardly say they're in good form.
They have won their previous four games in the Premier League with a goal difference of 15-6...I call that pretty good form
We always play better against teams that give us room to play. Arsenal are not a rough tough team, but sometimes have games when they are on fire. Today they weren't allowed to be at their best. Saints allowed them one shot on goal in the whole match. Adkins is a great manager who gets the best out of a team of decent players. They all want to play for the team and the fans. Saints will sometimes get outplayed, but there have been very few games where you could point a finger and say that they didn't try.
12 of those goals came in two games! One was against Reading, who unfortunately look like they're going down and also seem to go for the 'we'll just score one more than you' school of football, and the other was Newcastle who as I said aren't in brilliant form themselve. Don't get me wrong, a result against Arsenal is still always a good result, I just disagree with the assertions that Arsenal are in good form.
To be fair in all honesty I think we had it in the back of our minds the mauling we got at the Emirates. We were denied a win by a dubious decision in my opinion and to be fair a lot of neutrals. Well you may disagree about them being in form.....however even their own manager acknowledged their recent form as well as most of the pundits. As per usual though when they don't win, "they had an off day". Sometimes it rely riles me that Saints do not get the credit they deserve.
Agree with you Beddy. I think Moyes is one of the few top managers to give credit to other clubs when Everton lose. Fergie Wenger and co always say they had a bad day!
Cork was solid at RB! Not as affective going forward and linking up with Punch as Clyne is, but great defending, will be good to get the lad back though. We need Jesus back in the middle with Spidey.
