You are entitled to your opinion Tash, which l accept, even if l can't agree with it. My point was that you were quite rightly annoyed by those so called fans we have, going mental all over twitter to proclaim the end of the world and Newcastle United.
You wanted them to stop with the knee-jerking drama, and l actually agree with you, it's pathetic. But why then equate that ton watching women's football. Where is the comparison ? And how is it fair.
All l was saying, is that for some of us, especially those who remember the struggles of the early days, not talking about something monumental like being respected and excepted, but simply being able to get a game played and officiated over, was a huge commitment, that required real dedication, commitment and a thick skin. It is ignorant tO simply dismiss that as a pile of ****e, simply because it has no value for you. That's all l was saying.

I stated in one of my comments that I've seen a lot of talented female footballers, but female football itself... whenever I watch games I'm bored, but I will support females becoming footballers.

That's what I'm trying to say. I support females in anything, but I just can't lie and say I like women's football when it bores me...

And you're probably right, I shouldn't have said it... instead I should have said lets go watch NFL, that's awful LOL

Wow brilliant stuff GLITF <ok> It's funny us men often have threads about our football experience, and you're probably better than all of us <laugh>

The bit in bold is exactly what I was referring to before, no idea where Tash has got this idea that women are divers/cheaters/swearing/back-chatting etc just as much as men, because quite honestly that is utterly ludicrous.

Also, to point out Tash, men are quite capable of playing out a very very **** game of football... We've all watched Newcastle play this season <laugh>

    <laugh> fair enough Gandalf.

To be honest, I wouldn't class a lot of the nancies that play football today as men anyway. They just cry and role about the floor like little girls.

However, I'm not saying it's in mens nature to be vile, but testosterone to come into play during matches, and it's wrong to say that that's necessarily a bad thing. Men will have a go at each other, and I don't think women are better for just being silent about it.

It makes it more entertaining and interesting when blokes emotions rise, and anger comes into it. If all men turned soft and TOO respectful, football wouldn't be as good.

Was at Wembley for the Olympic Women's Football final. USA vs Japan. The venue was full, so what's that 80000 people, and the game was really good, lots of skill on show.
Generated much needed publicity and inspired a new generation of Lady footballers l have no doubt.
And Furthermore those athletes, no matter what their level of ability, will be able to play the game they love, in reasonable conditions, with safe regulation and good professional standards, because of those who endured all the crap and ignorance before them.

Worst experience I've ever had on the pitch was in some cup match for charity. All the teams had to have at least 2 girls in the line-up. I was LB and was charged with marking this lass who played for the school football team(very successful football team compared with the guys, perhaps because they were funded and trained by the admin teacher (I know what you're thinking, admin teacher? Yeah, he was a total pervert. Bought them all new kits, but they HAD to change in his storage room))... Anyway, after a couple of robust (but fair) tackles on this girl, she runs after me for about a minute trying to slap me, before giving up and deciding to elbow and stamp me from every corner... Anyway, ten minutes to go til the end, with the teams drawing, the ball is hoisted into our box from a free-kick, and I'm marking the other lass in their team. I realise she's lost me in a second of confusion, so i try to recover by heading towards my goal and not looking at the ball, the ball hits the back of my head and rebounds out to the girl who was trying to slap me... She scores a 25 yard screamer (of Cisse proportions) and celebrates in front of me like she's won the world cup...

Refused to the offer to play the next year.

It's a good story, but l need to log off as it's time for dinner, but l promise to post it as soon as l have time to do it justice. It is to be honest, one of the highlights of my life and deserves to be written up in full and glorious technicolour.

Top level womens football is good and on a technical level, very very good.

But I'll be brutally honest, its not a patch on the mens game in terms of watchability. Its the speed more than anything else but there is no doubt its an atmosphere thing too. Hardly surprising given how far its behind in development terms given the ignorance of yester year and gulf in funding etc. I also struggle with the lack of physicality in the womens game. To be fair the way the mens game is going (i.e tackles being virtually outlawed), that will soon be a mute point.

Nothing wrong with womens football though and certainly doesn't have some of the poison that has seeped into the mens game over the years.

The real reason why we've been conceding goals is because Simpson and Williamson are utter ****e, Santon has no positional sense or awareness (which is just a polite way of saying HE CAN'T DEFEND), Coloccini is bang out of form and so is Krul.
