Top player but much prefer a top class left back for balance and given history with this transfer, I don't put much credence in these news outlets

Newcastle United have agreed a deal with Lille for Mathieu Debuchy.
The French international, and friend of Magpies midfielder Yohan Cabaye, has finally completed his move to the north-east.
Debuchy was a target for Newcastle during the summer, but despite regular talks, they failed to land the defender.

New arrival: Debuchy (left) will join up with Pardew (right) at Newcastle
The deal is believed to be worth around £5.5million, and a resolution to the long-running saga will be a relief for manager Alan Pardew.
Debuchy was vocal about his difficulties with the troubled Ligue 1 side.
Both he and departed goalkeeper Mickael Landreau waged war after Lille boss Rudi Garcia axed the pair from the 'Conseil des Sages', a so-called ‘council of elders’ which used experienced players as a link between coaches and the rest of the team.
Newcastle, meanwhile, could still be active in France this January, but have been told Marseille ace Loic Remy will cost £15m.

As a follower of Ligue 1 - Debuchy will be a better signing than Michu was for Swansea and Cisse was for you during the latter part of last season. Better than Ben Arfa and Cabaye IMO.

Better than Ben Arfa and Cabaye would be truly wonderful.

He was in the Ligue 1 Team of the Season last season, so must be doing something right.

That's reassuring news, just think DT, absolutely no need for you to consider a name change, so it's all good <ok>

Top top player and the thought of having two attacking fullbacks with the quality of Santon and Debuchy is mouthwatering. A strong, commanding centre half and a replacement for the seemingly Chelsea bound Ba and we should have a better 2nd half to the season.

Newcastle have agreed a deal to sign defender Mathieu Debuchy from Lille, according to the Press Association.
The Magpies were linked with the French international during the summer following the 27-year-old right-back's performances at Euro 2012.
The fee is believed to be in the region of £5m and the move is set to be completed once the January transfer window opens.
Newcastle signed midfielder Yohan Cabaye from Lille in June 2011.
Debuchy played in all four of his country's games at Euro 2012 and has 13 senior caps.
Danny Simpson, 25, currently plays at right-back for Newcastle and Debuchy's signing could put a question mark over his future on Tyneside as his contract expires in the summer and he has yet to agree a new deal.

    That is from BBC
