Robert Fleck, around '95 we got on loan from Chelsea, a classy striker that Chelsea paid mega-bucks to sign from Norwich

Can remember that him when we played against Norwich losing in the FA cup, we got pulled over entering the City and the Police emptying all of our drinks down the drain. Quite a few were pulled over at that time must of been £100's pounds worth of alcohol wasted. My brother driving had to return the following week to court charged with something like going to a sporting event with alcohol?? Some silly rule then.

But anyway his goal was a classic

Keith Fear missed a penalty against Derby when we were fighting for our Div 1 lives.
He then tried to make amends by running down the middle, weaving around 6 of their players, only to scuff his shot at the last.
    Cracking match though

Trevor Morgan....bit of an unsung hero realy as he was a decent target man.
Ralph Milne?......sold to Man U so he must have been good lol.

    How about this one then.

It was an evening game I think, against Scunny, and a certain Mr Botham playing for them?

Howard Pritchard also used to drive the school coaches from Backwell comp. We didnt believe it was him and spent the whole journey home quizzing him on city history so he could convince us it really was him!

I remember Colin Lee and Mark McGhee playing in an FA Youth Cup tie at the Gate. Afternoon match in 1973 during the three day week/ power problems of the heath government. Skived off work to go with my Dad.
About the same time as we played Leeds away in FA Cup replay Feb 1973?

Mr McGhee got homesick and went back to Mum. Whatever happened to him? Did he have a career in football?
Oh yes he became a manager and his chief coach at several clubs was Colin Lee.

There are just so many over the years that it is difficult, no impossible, to pick one.
Maybe I should write a book about the hundreds I've watched perform with varyring degrees of success/failure.
    But how about one per decade from the unsung heroes;
    50's Tommy Burden
    60's Alec Briggs
    70's Trevor Tainton
    80's David Moyes
    90's Rob Edwards
    00's Matt Hill
    10's Not yet

The stars get all the glory but these are representative of those who turn out every week and perform to the best of their ability. These are my kind of players - they win a club honours but rarely get the glory of an Atyeo, Cole or Jacki.

Nice one Cidered, 84-86 we had a great midfield player and captain in Bobby Hutchinson and he was Scottish! Was this another of Terry Coopers wise buys?

Most definitely but he had one failing. The same as Jacki - may even have visited the same (watering) holes.

Clayton Blackmore and Paul Hartley were 2 players that were evidently way above the heads of their teamates and exuded their footballing pedigree throughout the game.

That particular breed of committed players are hopefully high on Derek's New Years wish list. It also appears that a dominant ball winning and controlling midfielder is high on most posters list - right?
