ah well, that was a good game spoiled by a pathetic stream for me. I did not see any of the goals as they happened today
We have no reason to be down beat after today, we move on to west ham now who will be missing nolan along with a host of others and they lost to reading, decent chance for us to welcome the new year in with a win.
Well that was certainly a fitting game to end the CS Match Center on, absolute cracker. Shame about the result but a million positives to take from it!
we come out of two tough home games that we could rightly expect nothing from, and possibly a couple of moral crippling beatings. We leave with no points, but knowing that the 'gulf' between the top teams and us isnt half as big as it was last year. We were well in it till the end, and we must feel pretty strong going into the next run of fixtures.
OK, and a million negatives, too. Weird game. At one stage it looked like we were going to repeat last season's score (at least), but in the end I feel slightly peeved that we didn't get a draw. Defence was awful, but they won't play teams operating at Man City's speed very often. Unfortunately they were up for it. OK, I over-reacted by saying Bunn was ****, but I honestly do feel he is no better than Rudd. It is not true to say he has not been at fault for any of the goals we have conceded. His shot-stopping is fine, but his positioning is very poor and he does not organise his defence. We are badly missing Ruddy. Today's results have got me worried. We have to get something from Wet Spam and Newcastle, or we're on a slide that might be hard to arrest.
vietnam i think you're over reacting/ over expecting a little. 1-0 defeat to chelsea and 4-3 defeat to man city. Thats surely a better set of results than could have been expected earlier in the season?
Yes, thank God. He was astounding. And he goes back and helps his defence, too. A great player. As for over-reacting, yes, maybe a little. It is so hard to get the balance right, isn't it? Against Chelsea we created almost nothing but restricted them to very few chances. Against MC we were woeful in defence but much more dangerous going forward. This game worried me much more. At one stage it looked like we were going to get a Villa-style hammering. Please let us win at Wet Spam so that there are no jangling nerves. I'm an old man and my heart can't take it.
VC, I think you're wrong. The defence were good, as were the whole team, with the exception of the first five minutes. To score three against Man City is great. Also, why the hell does Macini not think it was a red card? Garrido's pass that Bunn tipped over was fine. What else is he meant to do? Had he held onto it, then it's a back pass, but he didn't.
The FA Cup is coming at the right time for us IMO. We need time to regroup after this tough run of games, and time to get over the injuries. I'd like to see Butterfield back, to come on in place of Wes when Wes tires; and I hope we do get Mulenga. If we had had him in the latter stages today we might at least have drawn the game. Re. Bunn, the fourth goal was real bad luck, and he made a great save to prevent it being 5 and keep us in with a shout. Just a pity we didn't wake up until we were 2 down.
My thoughts exactly!!!! I was at the match today and what an awesome display, especially after going 2-0 down inside 5 mins - awesome save from Bunn near the end. Let's hope we can get some points at Wet Sham!!!
Let's have a bit of perspective here. Today we played the reigning League Champions, we were not smashed out of site, in fact we came second, now I reckon that's not bad coming second to a top, top team!
No, you wouldn't be right. We lost three on the spin in April 2012, though only one by a Villaesque margin.
Agree. We have lost just 3 games in 13 PL games; the last two to the European Champions and to the PL Champions. Some games are a privilege to watch, and todays was one of those. A lot of people give Hughton stick when he talks up the opposition and says that we need to be at our best and most resilient to get anything. Today we were certainly resilient, and nearly got something, and Man City were for parts of the game awesome. Their fans were great too.
Here's hoping that we can put the poor bastard out of his undoubted misery next Saturday! We sure do owe him one!
3 tough games in a row. 3 defeats but no disgrace. West Ham away is hardly straight forward but i'm thinking a result is required now. Thinking back we should have dispatched them at Carrow Rd but I suppose both teams have moved on since then.
Spot on gg and I feel we played our part in a superb game of football and the only other team to score 3 against Citeh this season - none other than ManUre!! Nufff said.
