There was contact, but Bale was looking for it, his rep bites him on the arse again, as I've seen those given before
Bale went down far too easily for me, I think he should carry on. That's not to say that he wasn't fouled and given the way Lennon was fouled with no freekick given it's understandable that players do want to exaggerate contact. Ade should've scored too, what's happened to him? Cue squeeky bumtime.
"As Tottenham's Gareth Bale has gone past Sunderland defender Craig Gardner there was a slight bit of contact but he has thrown himself to the ground. The referee Martin Atkinson was right on the spot to give the booking for diving. "Bale has been gone over looking for that penalty and has quite rightly been booked. If he stayed on his feet he would have been in a really good position."
And Spurs fans have said he's been diving. From what I've seen Sessegnon goes down easily at slight contact, hardly different from what Bale did. Edit: I don't think it deserved a booking but I don't think it was a penalty either.
Bale does dive, as does 90% of all players that think they can win a free kick/penalty, just Bale is more in the spotlight.
if i touch you, would you just fall to the floor? players get away with diving as they say "any touch and they go down" but the reality is they can stay on their feet if they want, instead Bale takes the easy option and dives, which is a shame as he is such a great player.
