Police are urging tws fans heading to the Yorkshire derby between Hull City and tws on Saturday to take extra care. And as such tws fans are advised to set off early to tomorrow’s clash, with a sizeable contingent of tws fans expected to make the journey to Humberside for the Championship fixture. What's the betting the journo's a white ****e.
Humberside Police in helicopter: Ooooh look! Is that someone breaking into a car parked in the industrial unit off Argyle St? 2nd Humberside Policeman in helicopter: Yes it is! Too bad we can't afford more bobbies on the beat. Don't the public ever learn about vehicle security?
Hull is on Humberside, just like Liverpool is on Merseyside, Newcastle is on Tyneside etc. See previous lengthy thread on this subject for more info.
You must have missed reading the numerous replies pointing out why that's pure bollocks and explaining the difference between the different scenarios. As a bit of a clue, have a walk to the sign marking the Humberside boundary and get back to me.
Looks like the Humberside Police, Radio Humberside and this journalist are not privy to this info. Perhaps you could drop them a line.
No need, the new commissioner has already said a name change is on his list of to do's as he realise it's meaningless and unrepresentative. Piss poor argument as both are just name, not geographic areas.
Let's not bother with this ****e again. Most of us live in the East Riding of Yorkshire and prefer to have that recognised, particularly by some **** in Leeds who probably knows that the term Humberside is objectionable to most of us.
I think it means, for admin reasons, the area bounding the River Humber. Many large UK rivers have a zone named after them, as I'm sure you'll know. Similarly, 'the Cotwolds', the 'East Midlands', the 'Borders' etc define a zone.
As if white ****e supporters are totally unaware of the goings on of modern day crime.. parking near the Elland Road end of the their ground is hardly Alwoodley..
It means nothing of the sort plus, the Humber's not a River, it's an Estuary. If you're going to try trolling, you need better bait.
What does what mean? In fact, scratch that, I'm really not that interested and you embarrassed yourself on this last time. Move on.
Bottom line is almost everyone hates the term Humberside - the East Riding (Riding originally being Thriding meaning a third) historically defines where in Yorkshire we come from.. even the Tory Police Commissioner wants to change one of the last remains of the 1974 Local Government Reorganisation to Humber Police..
