The 153 SPL players who are free to find a new club in January A total of 153 SPL players can sign pre-contractual agreements with other clubs this January as their deals run out in the summer. The huge group of names, many of whom are established first team stars, could walk away for free at the end of the season. While many are at the end of multi-year deals, the number is swelled by those who were only given one year contracts due to the uncertainty in the league last summer. Dundee have the most players out of contract, reflecting the fact they were only elevated to the SPL weeks before the start of the season. The Dark Blues could stand to lose an entire squad, with 23 playersâ deals running out. Celtic and Dundee United have the least to worry from the coming months, with just two and four players respectively coming to the end of their deals. The Tangerines will be particularly keen to hang on to their captain Jon Daly though. Among the other stars sure to be interesting scouts on the list are Heartsâ Andy Webster, Ryan McGowan, Andy Driver and Marius Zaliukas, David Wotherspoon of Hibs and Invernessâ Andrew Shinnie. Cammy Bell and Liam Kelly of Kilmarnock have drawn speculation over their futures and the core of Stuart McCallâs Motherwell side â including Darren Randolph, Jamie Murphy, Nicky Law, Michael Higdon and Chris Humphrey â are all free to agree deals elsewhere this January. no1 is interested in free transfers from the scottish league then, o well, since people are saying there **** , aluko will have to go back then
To save everybody looking up Wikipedia, the standout names that could get into our squad (not necessarily into our first team) are as follows: Josh Magennis (Aberdeen) Paddy McCourt (Celtic) Jon Daly (Dundee United) David Wotherspoon and Daniel Galbraith (Hibs) Mama Sissoko, Cammy Bell and Liam Kelly (Kilmarnock) Andy Driver, Marius Zaliukas, Scott Robinson and Arvydas Novikovas (Hearts) Jamie Murphy, Michael Higdon, Darren Randolph and Tom Hateley (Motherwell) Michael Fraser (Ross County) Murray Davidson (St. Johnstone) Steven Thompson, David Van Zanten and Graham Carey (St. Mirren) Those players would make good back up, Graham Carey, Liam Kelly and Murray Davidson have been watched by a few Premier League clubs so would be a great acquisition on a free.
http://sport.stv.tv/football/clubs/...s-who-are-free-to-find-a-new-club-in-january/ A FEW OK ONES ON THERE,JUST HELP YOURSELF THERE FREE LOL
Wasn't Josh Magennis at Grimsby a few years ago? Tom Hateley is a decent player, but his father didn't exactly do the best job here did he?
I wouldnt Mind Hateley and Murphy from Motherwell, I think Murphy's a decent striker/winger and Hately is a great free kick taker and right back.
Don't take this the wrong way, but if they're not good enough to get in our first team, they're not worth ****ing signing!
Michael Higdon 13 goals so far this season if that dont deserve first team football, then there is somthing ******ed going on
Those players aren't in Celtic's team though, never mind first team. The best of Celtic's players will be okay championship standard. The vast majority of the rest will be L1 or L2 at best. Everyone knows this, hence no-one showing any interest. Even if they are any good, no-one has heard of them south of the border. Seriously, with no information other than their names, what sort of response did you expect?
Why not? Some of the players mentioned would make good back up goalkeepers and substitutes. You want players that can play at this level but wouldn't disrupt what we already have. Then if they are needed to be brought on they have to be good enough. Plus these players are out of contract in the Summer and by that time we could be a PL side. Which narrows the list down to Michael Higdon, Marius Zaliukas, Cammy Bell, Liam Kelly and Tom Hateley. He was on loan for a bit but Neil Woods cut his loan time short.
