Powerful and very athletical by the looks of things. This one isn't the best of videos but with our midfield supplying him it could be promising. Now this one however, wide range of finishing, plenty of pace looks perfect for this league. Strange thing though I've noticed his at a wide position for a lot of these goals was he being played as a winger back then? ultimately, we need a centre forward who is both capable of playing up front alone but is also adept at dragging himself out wide to stretch teams and open up space for the midfield. holt is fantastic at doing this (despite some idiots proclaiming 'he should get back in the middle' ). the only thing holt really lacks is raw pace and this guy has it in abundance. i've only seen videos and the occasional europa league performance but i like what i see
If theres one thing Rootun Tootun Hughton knows it's hidden foreign gems. If he's good enough for The Hoot' then he's good enough for me!
Yep agreed for me. The stronger we get the more internationals we will sign and that comes with its own risks Not sure how reiliable the Zambian media is though
Rumour has it that we are after a Zambian striker who has scored 25 goals in 65 games in Holland for F C Utrecht. Not sure of the level that Utrecht play at, but at 6ft 1inch and nearly 14 stone he seems to be a very solid target man under CH's new formation. The Zambian is off to the African Cup of Nations in January so there must be a question mark over risking such a signing. Also Morrison a target for Hull City - I for one hope this to be true and we recoup at least £1.5m for him.
On Mulenga, the strongest link seems to be 'Jacob Mulenga could seal move at Premier League side Norwich City' on the Zambian football site (I assume that this is the sight ICHB is referring to): http://www.zambianfootball.co.zm/?p=2832 Worth a read. It may not be true, but this at least seems to have some substance to it. He may be at the game tomorrow if it is true! (Or at ASDA along with Shola!).
Not alot within the videos to see if he's a good player as in each clip he only has about two touches, you can do that for practically any player and they'll look good. There is nothing that suggests to me that he's a great signing, doesn't look the type of player I like, its all physical attributes on show to be honest. Still, if it means Morison will be on his way I'm all for it. But I'm sure Hughton has looked at more than a few highlights on youtube if indeed we are signing him.
carrabuh, if we want to play one up front we require a physical presence up top or the formation won't work. i have no idea how good this guy is either but he has pace as well as physique - that's a good thing for starters and exactly what we need
I am quite excited who ever Hughton will buy tbh. If judging by Tettey, Bassong, Whittaker or Garrido is to go on, then I think who ever comes in will be equally just as good.
Yes we need a physical striker to play that role, but technical ability is just as important which I believe was Carrabuh's point, one which I also agree with. If he was 23 I'd be more excited personally, at 28 I'd like to think someone else would have picked him up by now if he's that good.
some strikers don't tend to peak until their late 20's, early 30s - that really isn't anything to worry about. its impossible to judge a player based on a youtube video but what it does show is that he is direct and quick which is what we want in our team up front. if you want us to sign a technical striker then i think you'll be somewhat disappointed seeing as they tend to cost about £20m (unless you're all obsessed with michu who was a one-off). we may well have to get someone who is a bit raw and rough around the edges. if he's better than what we've got then its a good signing. we shall wait and see... he might not even sign! just to add to that, someone like kone at wigan is exactly the sort of player who would be perfect for us, and this guy shows similar hallmarks. hughton is looking for the right type of player in the right areas - that's a very good sign. he noticed how poor the defence was and sorted it quickly. we aren't poor up front but we are a little one-dimensional, and he's working on that now.
Yes the age thing is a bit of a ****bag. Realistically I'm looking for a successor for Holt that's why I have shown practically zero interest in a lot of the names mentioned this season as forwards, however I think we need to think of improving the squad all round, even if it means buying two forwards as I haven't seen anything from Morison or Jackson that has had me jumping off my seat, Chris Martin is as good as gone too.
Strikers are often signed late in the transfer window, and if Mulenga signs on day one, then that makes a four week difference which balances the potential 3 weeks away for the Africa Cup of Nations. City are still restricted pricewise, with debt to be paid off at the end of the season. As other posters have pointed out, the price for Mulenga is likely to be reasonable and therefore the right choice. The Dutch league is good technically, and though there's not much to go on in the videos, I'm sure CH wants that technical ability as well as the strength and pace he obviously does have and CH will have scouted for that. Like PL, CH also places a lot of importance on temperament and character, and will have scouted for that as well. If CH feels that he's the right player to come in, then that's enough for me.
Looks good to me. Definitely lone striker material and could seriously challenge for Holty's spot up front.
I think there are technically gifted strikers other than Michu available for under £20 million, bit of an exaggeration that one. And as for signing someone a bit rough and raw around the edges then I'm all for that, just saying I'd prefer them to be earlier in their 20's personally. Not saying this guy couldn't end up being a good signing by the way, as nobody can doubt any of Hootun's signings thus far, just saying I'm not getting over excited by this one.
If you play one up front the person needs to be able to retain the ball on his own, not just flick on header or run into a space to chase. Its why Holt is so good and Morison is so hopeless, he can keep hold of it when under pressure and then pass when people have caught up. All I'm saying is that none of the abilities shown indicate someone who can keep the ball and wait, its all running into space and winning headers which is pretty basic stuff. None of the running was with the ball at feet.
If the player is keen to play in the Prem and for a decent club like us on more money than he is currently used to then I think at 28 he could be persuaded to forget playing in this competition. And anybody who played for Chipolopolo Boys has to be a good 'un surely?
He looks as if he'd scare the living daylights out of most PL defences. If it is him, and he does sign, I'd be very happy. IHIT
