QPR are planning to snatch £4million Brede Hangeland from under Fulhamâs noses in the January transfer window. The Whites defender is near the top of a wish list for a club bang in trouble at the wrong end of the table, with Rs boss Harry Redknapp a fervent fan of the Norwegian out of contract at the end of the season. Talks between Hangelandâs representatives and Fulham have dragged on for six months with neither side sending up the whiff of white smoke that signals agreement. The player was the first name to spring to Redknappâs mind when asked recently who at Fulham he admired, although the 31-year-old has been much coveted by Premier League clubs in his four years at Craven Cottage â especially Arsenal. His country and Fulhamâs captain has not enjoyed his best campaign, and Hangeland suffered a first red card of a career that hadnât even fetched up a yellow card suspension until he took the long walk against Sunderland in November. Redknapp made it plain he needs a central defender and striker as priorities to save Hoops from the drop, and Hangeland (pic) would need a three-year deal and a hefty hike in wages before swapping the relative security of the Cottage for a dogfight. But the Norwegian has been here already. His instant partnership with Aaron Hughes was a major reason why Fulham survived in his first 2007-08 season after joining from FC Copenhagen. http://www.fulhamchronicle.co.uk/london-qpr/2012/12/27/82029-32505087/#ixzz2GIihO1XP
sadly i can see hangeland going for one last big pay day and a longer contract, which we have not offered him, its affected him this season, and he has been put best defender in the prem by far
Brede has been a great servant for us and I would hate to see him go. A three year contract and possibly a bigger pay day,may look very attractive, but on the flip side there is the possability of seeing those 3 years in the championship.
Ain't humming cos i honestly want you lot to stay up...but do you think it'll be hard to get players in as you are in deep trouble and HR ain't turned ignoring around for you since he came in?
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo thank you! We can't watch him get run past like Adel did, ghosting past him as if he wasn't there. Please tell me no, we don't need this wood-legged geezer
Foren at Molde, his CB partner in Norway's national team is younger, probably a lot cheaper, and better, ask Norway!
HR - It's the first I've heard about us being linked with Hangeland. He's a top player but we've made no approach for him. #QPR
Thought Hangeland had signed his new contract offer from Fulham by now? Remember Jol commenting that when he gave Hangeland the offer it was the first time he'd seen the big lad smile in months Great organiser in defence, we saw his deficiencies against Adel, but it should be remembered that he's the backbone of Fulham's strong defence and have been for years. Their dip in form recently coincided with his (harsh) sending off against Sunderland. Agree Oslo that Forren would be a better signing in the long run. But if the goal is to save us from relegation in the short term, then Hangelands experience would be better. Anyway, can't see this one happening. Hangelands connection with Fulham is to strong, this is the type of lad that loves the security being a Fulham player provide and won't gamble on joining us, not even for extra money imo.
Agree Hangelands experience is better in the short term, but I'm not sure he is still good enough. Think we could use someone quicker than him.
Maybe now mate but has been class for the past few years...probably the most underated player in the prem alongside jaskelinen (sp) !
I just remember Ashley Young walking round him in that international friendly before the Euros. He had time to put his feet up, read the paper and sip a G&T while the super tanker began the three hour turning operation. They like him at Fulham, let them keep him.
