It was out of his hands, what did you expect him to do about it exactly?

Borini proved he is capable of scoring goals before he came to Liverpool, so he was obviously bought for that purpose. Unfortunately, as you say, he has been injured and to be fair he hasn't really shown the goal scoring talent that we need but he was signed to try and address that. I would have said he failed in the transfer market if he had failed to sign any sort of striker.

Assaidi also proved he can score goals from wide positions, that's 2 players out of the 4 that should be goal scorers on paper, but haven't been for us. He addressed the positions that needed addressing.

Not let Andy Carroll go anywhere til his replacement was signed AND at least one other proven Premier League quality striker to go with it.

Schoolboy error from a wet behind the ears manager completely out of his depth

What if they tell you that they won't be bringing in a striker until Andy Carroll has been offloaded?

Stuck between a rock and a hard place then. No doubt someone like Shankly/Clough would've threatened to resign but Rodgers does not have the kind of CV they had to back up their abilities. And I guess that is part of the reason he was appointed in the first place. His lack of experience with boardroom politics and an almost empty CV in comparison to the other front runners for the job which means the backing for him from fans & media in such a situation wouldn't be as vociferous as it would be if a Mourinho or a Guardiola said he was being restricted by the owners with transfers.

It was always him or Martinez.

Problem is that we don't we a) don't create enough clear cut chances and b) we don't convert the half chances.

We had 2/3 half chances today:

    1) Sterling crossed the ball to Suarez who then hit the post.
    2) someone played a beautiful ball over the top to Shelvey and his touch let him down.
    3) suso worked it well and played a ball to Suarez who couldn't control it.

Pretty difficult chances but we need to start taking them as they are the difference between us losing matches, and teams like Utd who take those chances and win.

    Lets not get hasty chaps.

We havent done great this year so far and we do have a largely poor team which isn't great.

I'm also getting frustrated with BR but lets not get on his back at this stage.

Obviously I agree things have to change soon though.

How exactly do you expect us to respond to that comment?

Shall I pop down the road and tell Rodgers to leave?

    Annoying.

Ze, I have to agree with the other poster on this one. He ****ed up along with the owners during the summer transfer window. Allen is far from anything we can claim to be a world beater. Borini looked woeful to say the least before his injury and this will set his progression with Liverpool back even further. However anyone wants to sugar coat this, BR has to take responsibility for the disasterous summer dealings. If you are the manager of a business and you need staff, someone to go out and sell your product, you wouldn't employ a cleaner would you?

BR should have been sat at his desk constantly on the phone to Ian Eyres and the owners every 5 minutes until he knew someone had been signed! He dropped not one but both bollocks and he was the man who stated he 'wanted complete control of the playing staff!' so the buck stops with him. We have stagnated, we aren't improving and all the Fulham game did was paper over the still clearly visible cracks.

I am all for giving BR time to implement what he feels is the right way for LFC to play and conduct themselves, but he came with a 180 page dossier and still looks lost when we concede. I mean ffs, bringing Cole on last night was the sheer portrayal of someone with very little clue of how to make the key strategic changes. He needs to get this sorted or we'll reside in the bottom half of the league for the next couple of years and I for one am not looking forward to that sort of mediocrity!

People can spout all the statistics they like about how we are dominating the games and how much more of the possession we are having, but it is one stat, and one stat alone that matters, and that is goals scored...Everything else pales into significance!

Thanks for your concern, bit if you're memory is good enough, just think about how long it took SAF to build a title winning side

    SEVEN WHOLE YEARS!

His first three seasons on charge saw finishes of 11th, 13th, 11th. If that isn't going backwards I don't know what is

This time next season Rodgers will have signed the players he wants and will have had time to bed in his ideas in with the squad, I will judge him then.

I'm frustrated at the moment as is everyone but talking of sacking another manager is absurd, what if we did sack him and then the next manager does a **** job?

    very true Jonesey,

just have to hope that the owners are more patient with Brendan than the fans seem to be.

think our biggest problem was that we was not far off 4th and it raised our expectations, when reality is we should be looking to top 8 finish and keep trying to build on it each year.

Our spine is a top 4 spine no one can argue that, trouble is its surrounded by a lot of weakness, esp the bench to change things, and also over paid players in Cole and Downing who will be hard to shift dont help, get rid of them wage hoggers and we could probably look abroad for cheaper options, trouble is they both know they are on the gravy train, same as Carroll i fear.

we have to be looking to at least 3yr project with Brendan and see where we are at, not one season.

    patience.

Fans are just pished at the terrible football. They vent. but the general consensus is that things cant be this way all season, that is 0 progress. BR is there to make progress. To lose 3 0 to Villa at home and then watch Cjhelsea beat them 8 0 and Spurs 4 0. That says BR got it tactically bollox, he did again last night, poor system will make decent players look poor, although they were poor anyways

Again with our refusal to hoof a ball clear we nearly conceded.

Which is exactly the position we are in now, post Rafa.....and I don't like it any more than you do... Problem is, I don't see progress of any kind.....and given that we apparently do not have the players to play Rodgers preferred style, he continues with it anyway!! Rodgers has turned one of the previously best defences into one of the worst overnight....I don't care who we buy up top, if we continue leaking goals like this, we'll still lose loads. Reminds me a little of a Keegan at Newcastle only worse.

Frankly, I think Rodgers is VERY naive.....and one dimensional. Pulis must of relished the thought of playing us whilst tucking into his turkey the day before.

I'm all for playing perfect football.....but surely we have to fit round pegs into round holes before we reach that point.....don't we??

Anyway....he's far from convinced me that he's up to the task. I'm beginning to think that Chelsea may of made one of the best managerial signings this year.......I do hope that ignoring Rafa doesn't come back to haunt us!!

I know a lot of people are like you and don't see any progress, but that's my point unfortunately we have to be patient and give him time. Patience is important but there will come a time when it runs out, we should see improvement as he signs players in January and certainly next season should be a lot better.

The Rafa comment is valid, he's a very good manager and I wish he had never left us but that wasn't in ours or his hands.
