It won't be Bruce, Possibly Keane given his links with them, But when you look at the list of potential candidates for them, it's not great. Is Alan Curbishley currently managing?
It'll be Curbs or Keane, they'll try to get the fans on their side. If they came in for Bruce they'd be told to get stuffed.
Not sure, but as he's already played for Southampton and Forest on long term deals it's irrelevent (a half season loan is classed as long term and he's on at least that). We could only sign him on an emergency loan lasting between 28 and 93 days. In general though it depends on the basis of signing them. If a player is on a season long loan, even if there's no recall clause the deal can be cancelled if a permanent transfer is the reason for doing it. We couldn't do it with Sharp because of the 2 clubs thing, but if he'd not played for Saints we could buy him regardless of the deal Forest have. (if there's a loan fee involved presumably Forest would be due compo from Saints)
Utterly Barking Mad decision this. Rings very similar to what Blackburn did with Sam Allardyce. Hope Forest end up in meltdown now. As for Billy Sharp, Well Southampton should imo re-call him as they need to goals to survive. Saints are struggling big time and Sharp is now full of confidence. Either way this could backfire bigtime on Forest. Lazy thing to say re. Steve Bruce but understandable. It wont be Bruce at all. More likely to be one from Roberto Di Matteo, Mark Hughes, Sven, Roy Keane with outsiders being Alan Curbishley or Steve Kean(lol). Just goes to show that foreign owners dont know what they are doing. Had to laugh at Man City after losing @ Sunderland with all there talent and old boy Adam Johnson getting the goal.
You have just beaten the biggest club side in European, if not World football, 4-2 and you get sacked. He had only been there for 5 months ffs, so they have hardly given him a chance. Just another load of clueless owners having no knowledge of the game. As TNA said it smacks of another Venky situation and I think that the more of these type of owners you get the more it is going to happen.
Bizarre decision, O'Driscoll may not be a big name as such but he had got Forest on the edge of the top 6 and going by the Leeds game playing good football. There must be sommeone in place to take the job for them to take such a swift decision but whoever does come in will have to deliver there.
Off topic but I really dont get your point here. Since the dawn of time the 'bigger clubs' have lost to smaller ones, never mind mid-table ones from the same division. Why is it suddenley funny? And yeah, great example about foreign owners. I mean, it really didnt work in their quest to win things did it.....? And as for Johnson, it wasnt like he was a youth team player they dumped for a big signing like they did with Stephen Ireland - they paid huge money for Johnson under said owners and it never worked out so they sold him again!!
I wonder what the Crawley fans are thinking here? Before we go all saintly on Sean lets not forget he left them in the ****ter jumping ship in the summer. Some might say you reap what you sow.
I had forgotten about that, but I was thinking more along the lines of the position that he has got them in rather than him personally. Where exactly did they expect him to get them by the end of December? 10 points or more clear at the top maybe. The owners, as I stated, have no idea what the game is all about.
Garry Birtles is not impressed! Former Nottingham Forest striker Garry Birtles has called the sacking of manager Sean O'Driscoll "strange". O'Driscoll, 55, was relieved of his duties at the City Ground on Boxing Day, just hours after leading the side to a 4-2 win over Leeds United. Birtles told BBC Radio Nottingham: "It doesn't make any sense. You need stability and continuity. "The players had just got used to Sean and the way he wants to play. Sacking him now just seems strange." He added: "I can't believe the timing of it. Sack him at the end of the season if it hasn't worked out. "He had got them in a good position and they looked like they were challenging. There's a lot of questions to be asked." The former Doncaster boss was appointed manager by the Al-Hasawi family on 19 July after they sacked previous incumbent Steve Cotterill just days after taking over the Championship club. Victory over Leeds left Forest only one point off the play-off places but was not enough to see O'Driscoll keep his job. Chairman Fawaz Al Hasawi revealed on his Twitter account on Wednesday night that he had already spoken to a "Premier League manager" and had arranged a meeting for Thursday. Birtles does not think that replacing the manager at this stage of the season will lead to an upturn in form. "The problem they have now is a new manager is going to come in with new training methods, new background staff and a new way to play on a Saturday afternoon," he continued. "They might bring in a load of new signings and then they'll have to gel together and that isn't always easy and takes time." Forest take on fellow promotion hopefuls Crystal Palace on Saturday before travelling to Blackburn, who sacked manager Henning Berg on Thursday, on 1 January. http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/20852706
if they think they've pulled in a big name manager who can draw decent names during january, they can think again!
