This just ant good enough at this stage. Not so much the lack of goals, the fact this is the leakiest team in how long? I'd take Houlier's Liverpool over this one right now, no problem.
After seeing it all unfold so far this season I would say his ideas are incomplete. It all begins from a solid defence and we have not got that one fundamental foundation right, Stoke have and built 3 goals on top of it
Dropped to tenth in the league after being eighth before the game started (Stoke moved above us and goal difference put us below Swansea, yep, Swansea...FFS )
Shows we need a more potent attack, I think. We couldn't make the opportunities at 2-1 to get back into the game. When the ball went forward only Suarez looked capable of holding it up - thus giving Stoke the ball back. This causes pressure on our defence. The goals though... terrible defending.
**** happens. If I'm honest I expected a loss, at least we weren't robbed or anything. I thought Gerrard was decent, him and Suarez were the only players who had okay games for us, but at least he's finding some form. Stoke away is one of the hardest fixtures on the fixture list, I'm glad it's done with. QPR away next, very winnable but we need to go there and look much more sharper than we did tonight. I'm not going to get to downbeat over this, Stoke haven't been beaten at home all season. Our next 2 games we have to win, let's go in to January with a bit of confidence and 2 wins under our belt, and sign some players who can hit the ground running. Well done Stoke, again.
We new the score with Stoke. We were the away team and not by any stretch the favourite yet we set out to dominate possession, in a physical contest, surely Wengers years of this mistake was enough to teach BR
Struggling to think of excuses any more, this was supposed to be a run of games to really build upon and then January is here... Been saying this same old **** for 3 years now. Tiring
Interesting. I thought Gerrard was back to normal (for this season) and Suarez was poor (although he didn't have much in terms of support either). Not sure I would say anyone played well for us, maybe Enrique but he didn't live up to his recent (high) standard either.
Stoke well deserved their win, the result is not the issue. I am beginning to lose faith BR's system allows for effective defence. It has yet to do so against a team willing to have a go, mind you after absrbing our useless attacks for so long they were always gonna get goals. they just came earlier than expected.
I don't really think Rodgers can be blamed, he took over a mid table quality squad, and has hardly had big money to spend. So no suprises that your 10th. Rather than blaming Rodgers , blame Dalglish for spending all your money on poor players. 55 million for Carroll and Downing, among other poor big money signings
Really , really , really bad performance And thats 3 poor performances in the last 4, Villa , hammers and this Everything was bad tonight, porr touch, attitude, defending ,passing I thought we had a sneak of top 4, we have NO HOPE of top 4 BRs making some poor decisions, god know how Shelvey played 90 2nite Suso always gets hooked even though he usually looks ok Assaidi plays less than me, even though when hes played hes looked good And we dont appear to be getting better, we did appear to gradually improve at the same stage with Rafa, for me BR isnt meticulous enough, he should be FORCING us to play ONE TOUCH FOOTY, we rarely do, we shouldnt have players slipping on there ar*e every 2 mins
...and his first task was to try and get rid of the high waged players, we only have Downing and Cole left to shift. Possibly Carroll too.
