Kevin McNaughton What's that you have in your pocket? Why, its a Wilfred Zaha!! Oh ye of little faith!!!!!
An appalling start and the bar and a world class save from Marshall keeps us in it. We were by far the better side for the last 60 minutes and deserved the win in a excellent game. Malky got his tactics spot on. The whole team when needed defended brilliantly. We go behind and this team under this manager are always capable of coming back. Bellamy was different class.
After the first half hour there was only one team in it. McNuggs took his chance and bounced back with an excellent performance. If there is one player who will on his own be responsible for our promotion this season, it's Craig Bellamy. Towering performance from the guy. Blistering pace that can sometimes be his undoing. For the second successive game I've watched him at the CCS, he was blown up for offside when it was a 50/50 shot that he actually wasn't when the ball was played. Can't really blame the lino for the marginal decisions, but if Bellers could just ease back behind the last shoulder before making his move rather than be right on the button, he could beat any defender in this league for pace. Gunnar on for a somewhat subdued Mutch today was an effective move - that guy just oozes enthusiasm for the fight and should be in the side from the start. The title "super sub" is not one he would relish. He doesn't need to prove anything to me, but then again, I don't pick the team. One downside - I thought Helguson looked very tired today.
Agreed on all counts Sparks. Time for HH to have a rest on Saturday and see how Rudy can do from the start.
Maybe we wore hh out smashing 50yrd balls at him for the first 30mins. Wow we were ****e for the first half hour but palace ran themselves out and we were excellent from that point on. I'd love to see mason and bellers start a game up top together.
CCFC, all the talk around me at HT was that Gunna had to come on for Mutch....what a difference he made... apart from grabbing the all important winner. Should he start or is he our David Fairclough?
I'd say start him 'cause you don't want to let in 3 or 4 and not be able to comeback and the starting XI is supposedly the strongest possible 11 so why not
If we're expecting to dominate possession I think whits and Mutch are ok together. When we're playing a decent side that will have 50/50 ish possession then Gunnar should start IMO. On Saturdays form Gunnar should start every game but I rate Mutch and still think he can be a very valuable asset. His movement in midfield is top class but you need the ball to take advantage of that, he probably suits when a game is more spread out as he covers the ground quickly and finds space. To be fair to Mutch his touch looked like someone coming back from a long injury layoff. That should improve fairly quickly with game time.
