Apparantly forest want to make his move permanent surely we should keep hold of him incase we go down as he would fire us back up. Thoughts?
If we start thinking like that then we will go down. Premier league players because that is where we WILL be next season.
I'd be very surprised if we sold Sharp before the end of the season. If we stay up sell him in the summer by all means, but not until then.
I shouldn't think they'd mind waiting until the end of the season. Yes, we should be think of Premier League qualities, but it's only prudent to cover the just-in-case scenario. Even though it won't be needed.
Don't Forest have first call on buying him at the end of the season? I've heard they paid us £1 million for a season loan and have the option to buy him for near £2 million at the end of the season.
Would Sharp really want to come back and play for us back in the Championship when he scored the goals that took us over the line to promotion, then loaned out without a chance to prove himself in the PL? I'm not saying that I think it was right or wrong to loan him out, but I doubt Sharp would be all that enthused about trying to get us promoted again.
Think it should be down to Billy. I think he was upset about the manner of his loan as he had no idea he was going...hope it works out for him.
The moment we loaned Sharp out, I got the feeling he would never play for us again. I think It's a shame because he would have scored more goals that J-Rod by now.
I would have kept him at the club. Lee has always had injury problems and Mayuka's better off on the wing I think to utilise his pace. Only Lambert and Rodriguez would be ahead of him, meaning he'd be a first choice striker for cup games.
Never agreed with the decision to let him go in all honesty, but if Billy is happy then it's best for him
he is a good championship player where teams normally play 442, he really would not suit playing 433 in the premier, but good luck to him
Nigel Adkins knows best if Billy Sharp is up to playing for Saints in the prem - whatever, i really like Billy Sharp and wish him well wherever he plays.
Is there no chance that Adkins still has plans for Billy to play the PL? Ricky, as the oldest striker will eventually need replacing - im not saying yet - and loaning Billy out would keep him match fit and be a good bit if financial business for us if Forest did pay 1m for his services.
He looks in top form against Leeds. If he carries on like this dont bet against him coming back and playing some role next year
He might well decide not to. He has to consider his mrs & baby, can't just keep jumping around the Saints Championship hoops. (think he deserved a bigger chance this season IIM)
I see Southampton is now just a home for ex-Saints......Sharp, Blackstock, Harding and Gillet all in squad today
I'll do for him, Chilco. To this day, Stoke City don't do too bad either, and it seemed like half their starting line-up consisted of ex-Saints, only a few seasons ago.
