Just a heads up on a chronicle article in today's chronicle, thought id post it on here for any of you who cant get access.

SHOLA AMEOBI has made a fresh “come and get me” plea to Nigeria in his bid to play international football – but the Super Eagles’ summer schedule may not suit Alan Pardew.

Ameobi represented England at Under-21 level earlier in his career but was called up by Nigeria in January before breaking his cheekbone during the away game at Fulham.

United will be due back for pre-season training in early July, but Nigeria have a clutch of matches in June.

And there is also the possibility of the African Cup of Nations next January which has proved a nightmare for Premier League bosses.

Nevertheless, Ameobi told the Chronicle: “Obviously, I’ve made my intentions clear to Nigeria. It’s something I’d love to do, and if they pick me, then great. I just have to wait and see before the next internationals.

“I’ve been injured since they called me up the last time. Hopefully, I’ll get a chance.”

The Super Eagles are yet to announce opponents for a scheduled friendly on May 28.

They will then tackle Argentina on June 1 in a friendly before heading off to Addis Ababa to tackle Ethiopia in a vital game of the 2012 African Nations Cup qualifier.

Yet there could be further complications for Ameobi and his international dreams.

Both Ameobi and Victor Moses have been in line for action with the Super Eagles.

But the Nigerian Football Federation’s General Secretary Musa Amadu told KickOffNigeria.com that the requireded waiver documents from the FA are yet to arrive.

Amadu said: “FIFA requires five documents to process the players’ applications.

“ A signed letter from the player stating he wants to make the switch and acknowledging that the decision is irrevocable; a copy of their UK passport; a copy of their Nigeria passport; a letter from the English FA outlining the games they played in at junior level; and another letter from them consenting to the switch.

“They have already sent us a letter, signed by Adrian Bevington the Club England Managing Director, outlining the games that Moses represented England in, but nothing yet for Ameobi.

“However, they added that the letter in no way represents their endorsement for the player to switch nationalities.”

On another note .... can we please arrange for someone to rob him of his passport and allow him to get stuck there so he doesnt come back and play for us next season?!?!

Does anyone know how many goals Shola's actually scored in open play in his entire career?! All I know is, Messi has scored more goals this season than Shola has in his entire career, but I only remember him scoring penalties most of the time, does anyone know how many he is scored in open play?! - I'm just trying to make his goal record look even worse than it already is! <laugh>

I have one fear with this plea.

Shola will answer his phone and it will start with "Hello sah. I represent the Nigerian FA. To play for Nigeria I will need your bank details..."

Shola is then rendered bankrupt, has to sell his hats to survive and stays at NUFC.
