For those of us who are desperates. If you've logged on and now find yourself now reading this rubbish, then you too may be just a desperate. If so, welcome to the club. Please feel free to vent your spleen on any given topic, and if you just happen to full of the festive spirit, then by all means, say something warm and fuzzy. Just a question, do you miss racing on Christmas eve? Why is there none in the UK? We in the Southern half of the planet have several meetings on the go. Add to that a dozen trot and hound meetings, and we give ourselves a late rush at the shops if we can crack a winner or two.
Cyclonic, good morning and merry Xmas (eve)! I've just got up to have a cup of tea- I woke up with a mouth like a vulture's crotch, and just had to have some refreshment(it's only 4.30 am over here!) Ah, you mention "trotting." I can't really get my head round that sort of stuff. When they're racing, they look as though they're holding themselves back- as though they're dying for a piss and, if they went at full pelt, they'd shower the crowd! A bit like dressage, really. All that fancy stuff! Or a bird of paradise-strutting about to impress a mate but looking a right stupid prat. OK, so I'm being a philistine but what did you expect at this ungodly hour? Anyway, you have a good Xmas, Cyc. All the very best to you and your family. Don't forget to pull your cracker on Xmas day (the paper kind, that is).
Thanking your for you kind felicitations my friend. I hope you and yours have a happy and safe Christmas and New Year Tam. As for trotting, I find it a most elegant spectacle. To see a full field of square gaiters in full flight is a sight to behold. Any old horse can piss along at a gallop, but to see these wonderful creatures "dancing" along is enough to make this crusty old heart of mine skip a beat. But enough of that for now, have to hit the road. Drink long and hard my friend.
Good morning to you Cyc... Hope all is well with you on your side of the world... Manic nights have been the order of the day for me just recently but i can wait just a little longer before i can have a nice relaxing day in front of the tv and watch the sporting events pass me by on Boxing Day. I dont know why we have no racing on xmas eve, maybe we are to worried about going to church or shopping to take any notice...!!! To be honest though it dos get pretty hectic from Boxing Day onwards as most sports have double fixtures before we bring in the new year. And of course i can always tune into your very own Boxing Day tradition of turkey sandwiches at the Test Match, Sri Lanka being the visitors this year. So its sport all the way from then on, and may we be fully engaged in what we have on show for us... Sport really is the best thing to watch if you cant play yourself, none of this jungle, x-factor ****e...!!! Hope you have a good one pal and an enjoyable feast time...
Morning I am one of those desperate people! I miss racing on xmas eve - you would think it would be a good money maker for the courses, people off, family day out before xmas!!
Sporting Life's end of year sport quiz made me a bit grumpy this morning: In their website's end of year quiz here they have separate sections for London 2012 (a whopping 50 of 100 questions), Football, Cricket, Rugby both Union and League, Formula 1, Tennis and Golf, whilst racing is confined to 2 of the 10 questions in the general section at the end. And what belters they are too: 93) Name the winner of the 2012 Grand National. 100) Which Aidan O'Brien-trained horse won the 2012 Epsom Derby? Hang on I'm going to have to google those Anyway enough ba-humbug, I'm going to pick up a turkey the size of a cow
Morning all, Last day at work (a paltry 2 hours farce) after a weekend of helping with flood management (ie - send your boats here please), a Christmas holiday is just what I need. So before I go and buy presents at lunchtime, I want to say a very merry christmas to the racing 606 fraternity and a prosperous new year to all. Also, Oddy, can you lend me a fiver?
I can't pick any losers today

A happy Christmas to one and all - I doubt a better racing forum could be found anywhere. It would seem time to buy Ron a large glass of his favourite tipple but as that is not possible a simple Thanks will have to do.
It will be backed odddy I agree Bluesky and am so happy the irritant didn't last long. Great forum, great tipsters, great fun!
Merry Christmas all for tomorrow Greyhounds took centre stage today and by the way, Ladbrokes have signed a contract to be open on Christmas Day next year!!! Disgraceful. That info was from staff.
