Most people will think What!!! but in the cold light of day he steadied a sinking ship and brought in players that are now the backbone of the team. In a funny sort of way he paved the way, eventually ,for SB to come here ,obviously by chance/good and bring the best out of the players that he purchased.I believe that NP would have had to spend a shed load of money to get the team anywhere near their current position whilst offloading some of the forgotten players such as Macca, Simpson and Dudgeon. So for me he is part of our recent history, setting the foundations for great things under a better, more approachable and popular manager that would not be here if Pearson was still under contract. I know he did the dirty on us but hey ,who would we rather have ? I also think that this would be a shock for Leicester fans.
If most people do think 'what?' then frankly they're either childish, blinkered, stupid or all 3. Pearson did a stunning job for us, make no mistake, and this 'fake' rivalry we now have with Lester is an embarrassment. Managers and players leave - they always have they always will - and we look pathetic as fans for continuously going on about it. I care as much about Lester's results as I do any other team from a pool of about 10 that could challenge at the top (TWS excluded). Any singing about him on Boxing Day just makes us look small time whilst further feeding his ego. I'd suggest the very best insult we could ever give him would be to completely ignore his presence. Inter fans did that in Ibra's first derby after he signed for Milan - they jeered ever player's name announced and when they touched the ball except Ibra's, which was greeted by pure silence. It infuriated him more than anything cos it meant he didnt matter. Nigel would ****ing hate that.
yes we should. he's just a normal working bloke who saw an opportunity to further himself and his family. nice bloke, a good manager, top coach and did a very good 'holding' job for hull city in a difficult period of transition. and for those who say his style is boring, Leicester are currently one of the best footballing teams in the division and i still say that one of our best displays of all round football in recent years was under Nigel Pearson at Brighton just before he left.
Exactly. he did a 'horses for courses' job. If we'd played stunning, expansive football with the team we had we'd have got relegated twice on the trot. He did precisely the job that was required and left us some great players such as Hobbs, Koren and Chester.
Its football panto fans have been doing stuff like this for donkeys years a 3 second boo then move on to cheer city on for 3 more points.
i agree on the Leicester thing. there is no historical rivalry, culturaly or other. but do you really think that Leeds are realistic rivals of ours. nothing in either club's history suggests that they are. for real local rivalry look no further than the Sheffield clubs, boro, huddersfield, bradford, even sunderland, etc. Leeds are just a club that everyone in the country loves to hate, and our new fans have only ever seen that. in fact all of that is pretty much down to Don Revie. Leeds are simply a big club who are hated by all!
Oh no, this is purely personal, I know our historical rivals are Sheff Utd and Boro. Ive lived in Leeds since 99 and had to endure their greatest days since Revie coinciding with our very worst days and the constant sneering of their fans. For me it's also going back further to my youth and The Hull Whites, when people from our own City used to openly mock a 15 year old me when wearing my City shirt or saying I was going to games and they'd bleat about the glorious success 65 miles down the road as if it had something to do with them. What a set of ****s.
I won't applaud him, I'd rather concentrate on supporting city. However, I do agree Pearson had a big hand in getting us to where we are today. We could easily have plunged down into League 1/2 the state we were in and credit to Pearson for steadying the ship and bringing us the likes of Chester, Hobbs and Evans. Hopefully the rivalry with Leicester on Wednesday will be over our promotion chances, rather than chanting about the manager.
This^ Couldn't have said it better. Iv'e shared a bit of banter with the Leicester fans on here, but for me it's purely tongue in cheek. I don't care about Leicester.
Pearson did an excellent job and I am truly thankful for what he did. And as soon as he admits he he sold out on his principles for money then I'll applaud him. Until then I'll take great pleasure in the panto like chants of "one greedy bastard" & "He's Nigel Pearson, he'll send you to sleep". Nothing irked me more over his departure than the whole "I decided to leaveLeicester when they allowed me permission to speak to Hull, they didn't try to keep me". Yet a few months later we have roles reversed with the exception that we (The Allam's) want to retain our manager but he wants out anyway. Motivated by money and nothing else. If I had the Allam's money I would left him rotting on Gardening Leave to teach him a thing or two about principles. As for a rivalry with Leicester, they all have to start somewhere and I think this one will rumble for many years to come.
Christmas has been cancelled. Didn't you get the memo? All to do with the light at the end of the tunnel being turned off due to cost savings.
It was cancelled for me the moment my rota came out my next day off is 28th and im spending that travelling back to Hull for a messy week of alcohol seeing the family and watching the tigers against TWS haha
Can't stand all this excellent job bollocks. He took the job on, so what he had to move players on and sign who he. Wanted under a budget . The same as every ****ing manager in the league. Where did. We finish?? I have enjoyed football more in one game under sb than 18 months under Pearson. Pearson seems to pride himself on this tough straight honest no nonsense guy, but really he left us as a money grabbing sly underhanded ****. I have no problem with anyone leaving for more money, it's the way he did it. He knows that and can't stand it, remind the ****er of it.
I got over the so called rivalry with Leicester after we beat them last season. He was the only manager who wanted to manage us. The rest didn't want to touch us with a barge pole after relegation and he stuck with us despite us being financially crippled. If it wasn't for Pearson (as someones already said) we wouldn't have got Koren, Hobbs, Brady, Rosey, Evans and Chester.
**** him, he will be getting plenty of abuse from me when he comes out of the tunnel, then ill concentrate on cheering us on to 3 more points. Yes he did a decent job for us, ( for which he was handsomely paid) but then showed this club no respect in the manner he left. Applaud him? This is football not a ****ing garden party, he is getting abused.
Pearson should be welcomed back, by a polite round of applause. That's it, nothing more nothing less. But Steve Bruce should get a standing ovation. Pearson did what he was paid to do, without passion, without humour and without showing real desire. Steve Bruce shows passion, humour and has a desire for success. They are poles apart in their management styles. Hull City under Pearson became a soulless team, playing in a style that lacked any excitement. Bruce showed us that a good manager is more than just getting results, it's about being one of us. Even if its only for a relatively short period of time. Something that Pearson never did.
