Ferguson has said Williams could have killed Van Persie when he kicked the ball against his his head. He also called for Williams to be banned for a long time. Is Fergie right? Or has he been at the whiskey already?. Discuss
This did make me laugh when I read the article first time round. Clearly, Fergie has had a few Christmas whiskeys already.
He's mad.... but knows how to deflect blame after a poor performance and knows the media will lap it up, as they have indeed done.
Rather unlikely that he'd be killed, but I see Fergie's point. It could be quite damaging, and it is despicable behaviour.
Well it's possible I suppose, though I haven't seen the incident yet. I very much doubt it was deliberate; perhaps Sir Al will reconsider when he's had time to think about it.
Watching that clip, I can imagine that hurt quite a bit. It does just look like a clearance to me though.
If it was a water sodden old leather ball from the 60's, then yes, it would have left a mark. Today's balls are like the "Super Soccer" ones I used to win at funfairs as a kid. You know the types, the ones that made a "ping" noise when you kicked them. That never hurt Van Persie one bit. Wimps.
No Beefy, he`ll have been on the whisky. I think it was a bit reckless, rather than anything else. And cue Aston Villa After Eight jokes.
I can see why Van Persie was pissed off, but there is no way he was going to be killed! I think Fergie will regret saying that once he has calmed down, as it makes him sound like a right tit. On the other hand I reckon it could have given him a whiplash type injury if he had been unlucky.
Fergy Loves to be dramatic doesn't he...........As CBK Said if it had been one of the soaked leather balls of the 50's and 60's. It might well have given him a headache. However with today's light balls I doubt he felt it that much. Have to say it looked like an attempted clearance to me.
Daft thing for Williams to do, but it is a gross over-exaggeration by SAF to claim that VP could have been killed ! Quite understand why VP was cross though, as it would have stung - light modern ball or not.
Bit of a daft thing to do but Fergie's overreaction was calculated to take the blame off his team. And that would hurt regardless of whether it would have hurt as much as when our older posters were younger...
I don't know if he could have died but its not beyond the realms of possibility that he could have broken his neck that was serious force and close range very stupid thing to do and the neck is a dangerous area. Seemingly harmless incidents to the neck can cause all sorts of damage so I think fergies right to be angry.
A bit like that time when someone launched a boot at Beckhams head could have killed him you know. This man is so sour that if he sucked a lemon the lemon would pull a face.
