A couple of wins either side of man Utd away. Not great performances. So are we on the way up or papering over the cracks?

Think we have look at our current shots per game or shots on target vast improvement all we need to do is increase our pass completion percentage. Still work to do but on the up.

To early to say mate, but yesterday was a good result against a team that has done well of late, so let's hope so..

Its not hard to see that our Achilles Heel is a very ordinary and one paced midfield. We need much more pace in there and players that are comfortable in possession.

We have a top class keeper; a very competent experienced defence and one of the top strikers ion the EPL. What we don't have is a quality midfield and I truly expect MoN to go some way to rectifying this huge gap in the next 5 or 6 weeks. We also need a covering goal scorer in case Fletcher gets crocked anytime.

Apart from that, we have more than enough to survive this season imo.

PS - Villa are 3 down now and getting a right old caning along the Kings Road this afternoon. They look piss poor on this show.

I've never thought we'd be relegated and now we are half way through the season I think we will be fine. Can only see us getting better really. Injuries to come back, one or two additions in January.

What can we realistically get from our next 3 games. City at home, spuds at home and then Liverpool away. Would we be happy with 3 points?

3 points from those 3 games wouldn't be bad but I'm going for a very optimistic festive 5 points.

    Man City - draw
    Spuds - win
    Scousers - draw.

I'll do a little jig if we pull that off Cest!
Think we are all hoping for a Boxing Day repeat of New Year's Day!

I'd settle for 2, nowt against City, a draw with the spuds, although i think we can beat them but expect nothing less than a point, then a point away to the bin dippers.
I'll do back flips if we get 5 Cest.

Really fancied us yesterday. hence 1-0 prediction. Also quietly fancy us v Spurs. Not sure we can get anything at the other two. BUT Villa beat Pool by 3 last week and look at the clip of them today. Here,s hoping.

To the acrobats on tonight we get five points from the next three games and I'll join you lads.
To the OP we are still turning mate we have got to string wins together if we are to progress, not easy with the fixtures the way they are but that's what we have to do. The trapdoor is still a real threat and again we will be relying on what other teams do or don't do.

My view is that we know the players in midfield are half decent and capable of passing, but they haven't been doing it.

I think it's confidence, and that will sharp return with a couple more wins.

Seb is the best example, quality last year, dog turd this, I still wonder had the Reading game been on, and we'd won, would we have had this downward turn? I don't think we would have.

We shouldnt really have to beat Reading and Southampton to get a hard on though, and the next 3 games fans are not expecting a lot so if we dont get much then its a meh we were not expecting it anyway.

last season we went on a great run, then we went on a dire one, everyone was, the run was new manager syndrome, Bruces fault his team not MON, etc etc, what if we go on a great run again, get safe then **** again, people on here were saying its a Bruce end of season again (when Bruce was manager) but if it happens again this season, is it Bruce or just an SAFC thing.

My Heart says we have turned the corner but my head says it was only Reading and Southampton If we can show something these next 3 games, and keep it going, then yes we have turned the corner, atm its far too early.

Think that's fair Steve, bu if as I suspect it's a confidence and mentality thing, then wins, against anybody, can only benefit.

problem is if its a confidence and mentality thing, I doubt we will get anything from Man City, Spurs maybe, Liverpool doubt it so our confidence and mentality from Reading/Southampton could go flying out the window after these 3 games. And I thought thats what MON was good at, Mentality/Motivation/Confidence of the players, if that is the problem, when MON is supposed to be great at that, then GULP!!!!

Dont get me wrong I am over the moon with the last 2 wins, but i just cant get excited yet.

I have also just spent 3 hours on a banner for here, a legends one, went to save it, PC crashed corrupted psd :( not happy. Will have to start it all again as well as cutting out all the pics which is what takes the time.

But we did show something against Everton and Chelsea (2nd half) as well but just didn't get the breaks. I think we are starting to see much more of Johnson as an attacking threat and Sess has been much better recently but we are still 3 or 4 players short of having MoN's real team.

Until that time, I'll settle very happily for 6 points in 2 games, one away, against whoever it may be.

    Nightmare mate!

That is a fair point, MON was given as a motivator, the run at the end of the season put paid to that, I think what he's always been is a great man-manager.

We are 4 short, and that's almost half a team, if he gets them in January, then what happens from there will define him.

RB, CB, CB, CM for me, I genuinely don't think a new striker is needed right now.

O'Shea of yesterday is all well and good, but inconsistency is clear now, and we can't afford that till we get clear of the ****-storm.
