I agree with you. His body language and demeanour looks like we're pretty much gone. Nonetheless I think his honesty is refreshing and we will be in a much stronger position next year having offloaded many mercenaries. Been here before, many many times, but not with someone like Redknapp in charge so that is the silver lining.
Harry's an absolute legend, been my favourite manager for many years and has my total support whether we stay up or otherwise.
I knew this would happen. One win against Fulham, and everyone starts expecting us to go on some insane unbeaten run. And when reality strikes, it's all "Oh Harry's already resigned" and "Our squad is a disgrace" and "We're going down", no you, the fans, are disgraceful.
It was noticeable in his interview that he said he'd worked out who were up for the fight and who weren't in the first week. His teams have featured many of the 'old guard' and we know they'll give blood for the cause, whether the mercenaries will feature much is debatable but the 25 man squad will make interesting reading once the window closes...
felt sorry for Harry today. lets face it marks squad is woeful no strikers over paid players. he really is trying to make best of a very **** situation
Great OP, and I totally agree. I have to say that I was truly shocked by Harry's revelation that prima donna has-been Jose Bosingwa is earning more at QPR than anyone was at a Champions League competing Spurs side. A team which included the like of Bale, Modric and Van der Vart. God knows what the rest of our underperforming bunch of mercenaries are on. For the first time since Tony's takeover I am genuinely concerned about the future of our club, especially if the worst come to the worst and we go down. Harry is working miracles with the team he inherited, and will need the fans strongly behind him if we are to have any chance of pulling off the great escape again this season. COYRs!
Get off your high horse, pal. That performance yesterday had the stench of relegation all over it - following the Rs basically is an endless series of miseries punctuated by slight successes. That's the reality and it doesn't really bother me - I'll follow them always, as will most, if not all, of the Posters on this forum. However, anyone who witnesses our original relegation from the PL, or the relegation from the (now) Championship could tell you that there are some close similarities between these sides: lack of potency upfront and an inability to keep clean sheets. Recognizing this situation doesn't make you a disgrace.
Are these the same ´infected´ few that some how thought that giving Spews game after game we would finally ´gel´ - no comparison really between Spews and HR just do the maths. As for Granero - I am bitterly disappointed with his performances, he came from Madrid with impeccable credentials and I really cannot understand why he has underperformed?, I don´t believe he came to us solely for the money maybe he just can´t fit in with Faurlin and Adel. If Adel goes ACN then maybe if G is still with us he will get a run, but it is beginning to sound like HR wants a few of his ´own´ playing for him. Still a nice win against WBA and LFC and we will be rocking again - but going back to the current theme, Spews did a real number on us and yes he is the worst!.
Watching the game yesterday, I thought Granero looked a bit lost and unsure what is role in the team was. I don't know how accurate this is, however. Overall though he looked completely disinterested, barely moving off the ball and letting players run off him. I think perhaps he's suffered a loss of confidence and form and is really struggling to regain it; plus he didn't expect to be in a team in our position, I think, and is unsuited to the conditions at the present moment. Faurlin needed a bit of bedding in time when he first arrived, but Granero hasn't got that luxury and is looking disinterested as a consequence. He might be a good player, but I think it might be better in the short term to offload in January.
Playing for Getafe wasn´t exactly glamourous but he shined there - prehaps he´s one of those Spaniards that is not cut out for the PL, a pity really as he is a good player, but if he is now currently a ´luxury´ we need to get rid especially as he one of the few ´sellables´ that we have.
I just wonder where what seemed like the majority who thought Hughes was the best thing since sliced bread are now
For what it's worth, I thought that following our survival last season MH would be able to establish as a PL club, similar to Norwich or Swansea. This was based on his achievements at Blackburn. Obviously it hasn't worked out like that; and in fact he's taken the club to the brink. I don't want us to go down but my major worry is the financial implications of the situation. We all won't rid of the so-called mercenaries, but people think we can just get rid, but these players are contracted and will be seriously difficult to budge. Hope we don't go the way of Portsmouth.
Explains everything. Ferdy at right back just didn't ring true! Got to give Harry the rest of the season. Surely people didn't suddenly expect us to become world beaters?!!
Harry's a breath of fresh air. I've learned more about the behind the scenes position at the club since he came in, than all the management tweets this season. Not that I'm critical of TF. He put his faith in Hughes as the football management expert and was badly let down. I doubt Hughes would be hired to manage a darts team at his local after this debacle.
