Judging by his tweets, he seems to really like the other lads in the squad and he definitely enjoyed his time with us.

I still don't expect him to return, but it's great to see how much he enjoyed playing for us.

Good luck to you Mr Meyler, you did a grand job for us. <ok>

Not convinced he's going back just yet.

    Still not recalled tho.

Squad just looks complete when he's around. Hope TC can step his game up on the consistency front.

As Chazz said on another thread, the thing we'll miss without Meyler is his runs forward into the box. The other midfielders all sit too deep. Quinn gets about a bit but usually it's out wide rather than into the box. Meyler is the only one who bursts into the box to get on the end of crosses/pullbacks.

I think Cairney's great but he can't do that.

Meyler, I think, is a colossal midfield battler with a magnificent spirit and pure drive and purpose.

I think we were JUST starting to see the best of him.

A gutting shame that it looks like he's going back.

I hope MON decides against it, but I doubt he will.

He's looked better and better all the time. Well done, son.

Cairney looks like player reborn, let's see what he does before we concern ourselves with what role he's played in the past.

Cairney is a great midfielder, but he won't offer us what Meyler does if he returns to Sunderland.

oh for a return to the days when we were stood at Ferriby on a wet Tuesday night predicting big things for this young midfield player that nobody else had noticed. And I don't mean Gavan Hoolhan!

Sorry all this Bollux about Cairney being great is the biggest load of shi te I've read on here!

Just tell me when he's played and completely bossed midfield, created a shed load of goals of scored some unbelievably brilliant goal????

Come on, you can't can you? Because he hasn't had he?

It's like this Mayen calendar, all myth and make belief

I hope he does come good but at the moment he's only great in his own head and few of yours.

People are saying the same great things about Cairney as they were 3/4 seasons ago... the guy is underachieving simple as. I ave given up on waiting for his god given talent to shine. Maybe he simply doesn't have one.

How can he be underachieving ? He's barely played since a long lay off,and when he has he's looked really good. Nonsense !

Tell me when McKenna Evans or oli have done those things??

Tc hardly played last season but still had more assists than Evans and McKenna put together.

Because they're different kinds of players. Id suggest Evans and McKenna put in a lot more tackles. You're comparing apples with pears.

You might as well say he had more assists than Mannone as say that!
