So my nap had better win I guess...........and the poor animal carrying the burden is CANNINGTON BROOK 6-1 2.15 Hayock. He will absolutely relish the conditions tomorrow and can finally fulfil all the potential he has shown. For an eight year old he really doesnt have that many miles on the clock and I believe he has more to come. He won this race last year in similarly testing conditions, he loves to really get his toe in and tomorrows mark is not too far above his best winning mark. The enigmatic Douglas Julian is more than capable of giving him a good race but rarely puts in solid back to back efforts.

    Happy Birthday Stick <ok>

Worried that Ascot and the AW is all we'll be left with judging by the forecast.

Happy birthday for tomorrow Stickman <wizard>

The Ladbroke is a real puzzle - I have backed Kazlian ew at 18-1 but you could pinpoint a dozen and still miss the winner!

Happy birthday Stick. I suppose family will be rushing out to buy your presents now, thinking they'd got away with it this year.

Would like to know what the better informed think about Prospect Wells? Beat the fav for the Ladbroke when just being edged out by Zarkander, was beaten only 7l by Captain Conan, which looks top class now! and if you really think about it, the last run may not prove to be so bad as most in front that day are prominent in the betting for the big race tomorrow. I fancy it but if the main guys on here have a reason that it can't win, it may save me a few quid.

For me Courtez, Prospect Wells falls into that category of being a horse who is just shy of being top class whilst ast the same time being too exposed to go and win handicaps. He is also not a natural jumper so there seems no future for him as a chaser.
With these facts in mind connections have to try different things with him. Thus today we see him tackling a longer distance for the first time! What a day to be doing it though, in the Long Walk Hurdle on bottomless when he has never been past 2m1f before. You would have thought that they would have tried 2m 4f first before taking this leap. I will be amazed although pleasantly surprised if he gets the trip because he is a lovely animal.
Poor beggar will be wondering where the winning post is after 2.1/4 miles!

    Here is what the chubby one has to say on the matter;
    14:00 - Prospect Wells

These staying hurdles suddenly appear to have become a lot more competitive without a certain Big Buck's! And in his absence Smad Place, third in the World Hurdle back in March, looks the one to beat here. But I am looking forward to seeing what Prospect Wells is capable of over this trip. We know he is a very smart two miler - his fifth in the Supreme and his reappearance second to Zarkandar showed that - but don't forget that he was a very useful 1m4f-1m6f horse on the Flat, so, who knows, this trip may bring about some improvement. Clearly, 3m1f on heavy ground around here will test his unproven stamina to the full. But if you don't ask questions in this game, you will never know the answer. His slick, economical, jumping will be an asset in getting the trip.

Morning all & happy birthday Stick <ale>

    Two for me today

    1.20 Ling - PICANSORT @ 11/2

Disgraceful ride from Kelly on him last time out, hopefully he got a right good bollicking and can make amends today, as the horse can easily win off his current mark.

    1.45 Hay - CONSTANT CONTACT@ 18/1

Was an easy winner at Cartmel off 126 & went into the notebook after finishing fifth at Cheltenham off 136, bit disappointing there last time out. Has been dropped 4lbs to 132 and i can see the track & step up in trip being of benefit today.

One to add at big odds

    3.10 Ascot - RIGIDITY @ 40/1

Massive odds available for the horse who was second in this race last year off a 1lb lower mark. Will relish the heavy ground.

    Good luck all!!

    Sorry Galaxy -

1.20 Picansort - I just hope they get it right with him this time, as he should have won last time out. 11/2 is a fine price.

Then I have also gone for

1.45 Bakbensher - A horse that goes well in the mud and at this time of the year. He has to put a bad run behind him when disappointing last time out, but he is still a good enough sort to win a race like this. His penultimate run is one that took my eye at HQ. 8/1
2.15 Douglas Julian - A real mudlark and should just gallop against this field. Handily weighted in the handicap and with another 7lbs off his back he is only carrying a feather weight. 7/1 EW
3.10 Urbain De Sivola - explained on the Ladbrokes thread why I like him, he does have to put some French form behind him, but I think he has perfect conditions for the race. 28/1 EW

Morning everyone and, as the Germans would say, "Herzlichen Glückwunsch zum Geburtstag, Stick" (fairly skips off the tongue, doesn't it?)

Haven't had a thorough study yet but like the chances of Reve De Sivola in the Long Walk, he should come on plenty for his seasonal reappearance where he stayed on again past beaten rivals to finish 2nd to the Champ.

The Ladbroke looks as competitive as ever but I think there is some value in the 25/1 about Bothy on his run behind Olofi and Cash And Go at Cheltenham last month. He was beaten 4 lengths by Olofi and has a 6lbs pull today, and 1.5 lengths behind Cash And Go and is 2lbs better off with that rival. Added to the weight pulls he has Patrick Corbett taking off 7lbs and he always goes well with cut in the ground. It's nearly 3 years since he's won and he could certainly do with a break from the handicapper, but he is such a consistent horse and always gives everything. Whilst he may not win, I think he looks nailed on for a place so watch him finish 5th <doh>

    Hello lads.

Great that Haydock gets the green light but heavy ground there is very heavy.

Re Picansort N and G,I noted him as a potential winner lto under a ride that should have had SK on the carpet but think he may be better over 6f or a straight 5f.His strike rate id also moderate.

    Any thoughts?

Sorry, forgot to wish Swiss Tony a happy birthday. Happy birthday old boy, enjoy the discounted tickets for a plethora of activities.

Dex, I would prefer to see him over six furlongs but I think he is thrown in on the weights and still should be good enough to win over the five if given a more positive ride. Throwing the hood on might make him a bit sharper too and he has the perfect draw for the race too. If Shane gives him a proper ride then I am very confident.
