    http://www.themag.co.uk/the-mag-wire/alan-pardew-confirms-remy-interest/?

While Alan Pardew has ruled out a move for one of Vurnon Anita’s former colleagues, twenty year old winger Jody Lukoki, he has confirmed that Newcastle are interested in signing Marseille’s striker, Loic Remy.

    When the question was put to him he said;

“That’s a situation we are looking at”.

Remy has been largely out of favour this season but in the previous two seasons scored 37 goals in 83 club appearances.

Remy was in the provisional French squad for the Euros earlier this year but failed to make the final cut of 23.

As well playing as a main striker, Remy can also operate as the second striker or on the wing, so in theory at least he ticks a lot of boxes as the kind of versatile striker that we haven’t got.

Whatever transfer activity does happen at Newcastle in January, I just hope that it is concluded quickly as once we’ve got Manchester United, Arsenal and Everton out of the way after Christmas, the matches in January are against teams nearer the other end of the table and nearer us!

We have to pick up decent points against Norwich, Reading and Villa or else the writing could be on the wall.

Newcastle manager Alan Pardew has agreed a £10m deal for Marseille striker Loic Remy, according to reports from The Mirror.

The Frenchman’s potential arrival next month could spell the end of Demba Ba’s time at the club, with Premier League duo Arsenal and Liverpool rumoured to be keen.

Remy has been the subject of intense interest in recent months, but it appears that the Magpies have beaten the likes of Tottenham and West Ham in the race for his signature.

Despite demanding £20m for him during the summer, Marseille are believed to be willing to accept half of that figure, so long as winger Sylvain Marveaux is included in the deal.

Pardew is said to see the 25-year-old as the ideal partner for misfiring Senegalese international Papiss Cisse, whose relationship with Ba has been less than fruitful.

It is repertod that Ba will be leaving the club in January, with his £7m release clause tempting a number of top clubs from around Europe.

Newcastle have moved to renew his deal, but the 27-year-ol has set his sights on a big move.

Ba was critical of the St James’ Park club’s tactics recently, which is thought to have upset a number of players within the squad, making a hasty departure the best option for all concerned.

Let's hope we can get this guy, think he would help the team progress, whether we lost Ba or not.

I still can't believe they actually linked Lukoki to NUFC, the guy barely played 5 full games this season for Ajax. Just madness to link a youth player who is not even a starting 11 at Amsterdam with an EPL club. In fact, just on that statement I refuse to believe the rest of the story...

Am I the only one who would abhorrent if we signed Remy but lost Ba AND Marv? This window must involve a net player gain from my perspective, the squad is too thin for anything else, so if this were the only deal done I'd be annoyed in the extreme. Nobody wants to see Gandalf angry.

I think even having the same amount of players after the window would be a horrible January for us!

Also, does this mean we aren't going to get Sebastian Rajalakso? <wah>

Pardew has made it clear it's one in one out, plus one more player (assume a central defender?) - so should be a net gain if he sticks to his word.

I don't necessarily think it will be Ba that goes if we do get Remy, though it does look likely.

From what people have said of him, I think it'd be more like:

    ------------Cisse-------------

    Remy------Cabaye--------Ben Arfa-

    ------Tiote------------Anita--------

    Santon----Colo----Willo-------Simpson

    --------------Krul--------------------

    Or

    ------Remy------Ba-------Cisse

    -------------Cabaye----------

    ---------Anita-----Tiote------

    -Santon--Colo--Willo-----Simmo

    ------------Krul--------------

    Would prefer this though:

    ------Remy------Ba----Rajalakso

    -------------Cabaye----------

    ---------Anita-----Tiote------

    -Santon--Colo--Willo-----Simmo

    ------------Krul--------------

Never mind that...if we're writing the team sheet and Willo is still on it I will consider the window a failure!

Remy is immense in the air and can get on the end of crosses. He's a better all round striker than Cisse.

Remy should start in the ST role, then switch them around during the game like we do with Ba and Cisse.
